The Boxing thread

Golden boy wont rush Canelo in with Money. I am guessing that might be Moneys last fight. A changing of the guard type of fight. They could well have anyone fighting Money and it will be the same result as he is just a level above most fighters.

As for a Marthinez fight I just think for Money it might well be a step too far for him to go up and do well and troble Marthinez. It would be a great fight to see but it would be more of Money trying to use his boxing to win as he wouldnt have the power to stop Mathinez at that weight level. I wouldnt mind seeing Marthinez v Chavez Jnr again.
Gonna be a difficult fight therefore don't take it, you said it, that's the Mayweather way alright. Imagine if Sugar Ray Leonard had that attitude. Suppose that's what separates the good from the great.

Well he cant take that fight because Marthinez is already fighting. What can he do.
Also a lot of people are jumping the gun I heard that Brook v Alexander will be made for the 27th of April and it is on a good card. Going by Eddie Hearns twitter he was saying thats the most likely date for the fight to be made. On the same bill as Danny Garcia v Zab Judah and Peter Quillin v Fernado Guererro.
Money may well be using Alexander in a way to do a cheap deal with another fighter saying he is close to terms with Alexander may well have been a smokescreen for another fight and a way of pushing the other fight on.

Feel like a fucking gooseberry in this fucking thread, some sparring going on. Can see why UFC is becoming more prominent, no one wants a fight. Top level boxers at the moment are like shit heads hope the bubble bursts!

for me anyone who was already a boxing fan will never start to watch UFC instead, just my opinion but i can't see a UFC fight where from what i have seen the most part is spent rolling on the floor ever coming close to a Barrera v Morales, Gatti v Ward or Castillo v Corrales, this isnt a pop at UFC as its clearly very popular

For anyone who's a boxing fan correct.

However for new fans, the new heros might be UFC guys, but you are right can't beat a good tear up!

Looking forward to the Broner vs Rees fight, however wish it was Burns. Broner to win in round 5.

Broner looks a real cocky classy fighter. All the confidence in him. Ricky Burns will never ever fight Broner while he is with Frank Warren. To be honest the winner of the Burns fight should fight Broner to see who is the best lightweight around but Warren wont let Burns in with Broner at the time being. Too dangerous of a fight for Warren to put Burns in with.

As for the UFC I watch it. I take each sport for what it is. Some fighters you just love to watch in both sports and I would rarely miss there fights be it GSP , Anderson Silva and Bones Jones fights are all must see fights for me.

How can you say you're not defending Mayweather then come out with the same nonsensical excuse 3 times?

I've said this 3 times now, Floyd has had 6/7 months to find an opponent. Martinez hasn't been signed to fight someone for the last 6/7 months (not until about December). Mayweather isn't on a tight schedule, he fights once a year. He can fight who he wants.

Trout and Canelo are the 2 next most dangerous challenges, both have no fights lined up, both would love a Mayweather fight.

He fights once a year, anyone other than those 3 (unless the Pacquiao fight materializes) at this stage of his career is unacceptable.

The only reason we look back on Hearns & Hagler & Duran & Leonard with such enduring respect and affection is because they put it on the line in mega fights against each other and showed their heart in the ring. We've never seen Floyd go to the well because he avoids fighters who might push him there so we don't know if he has the heart of a truly great champion. Nobody can tell me that Mayweather is more technically accomplished than Sugar Ray or Tommy Hearns and nobody can tell me that Floyd ever came near taking a fight he could realistically lose. He gives boxing a bad name, he gives black men a bad name.

For what it's worth I reckon Canelo and Trout would trouble him but Martinez wouldn't get near him
