The Boxing thread

I thought Winky had already retired tbh. He was well past it a couple of years ago, should be calling it a day really. Has some big wins on his resume though.

Joan Guzman has failed a drugs test I see. Between failing to make weight all time and now this, the guy is just one big waste of talent. Embarrassing.

The multi million pound contracts that Haye walks away from, only to kid the public into buying his next fights against no-hopers.

I have freinds who don't watch boxing but know only of Haye and Khan so rely on Sky to tell them about their opponents. It's fair to say that Sky are in on this sham by David Haye as well.

Lets be honest Wald Klitschko has a lot to answer for in his part of the deal. It was all sorted the fight was to be made only from him to pull the plug not Haye.
What is this part you talk of. It was Haye that pulled out in 2009 with his back injury after the fight was signed. It was Haye that pulled out again of a July 2nd fight this year because Wlad is going to fight 9 weeks before.

Keep buying the weak excuses and buying the Sky rip off pay per views against no hopers. You might fall for his act but i won't.

Haye didnt pull out of the fight. Wlad was asked not to take the Del Boy fight as Wlad would not be ready for the July fight. As you said about Haye and his so called back injury well it was a mixture of that and he didnt have a tv deal as Setanta went bust around that time so there was NO UK station abel to show the fight on short notice is the main reason the first fight was called off.

Will find out in the next few days to see who will be showing the Casey fight against Rigondeaux for the WBA world title it seems it will be for the full title now. IF it is not on Sky there will be some sort of link for it on the night before I head off to watch it live. ESPN , Sky and RTE are all in the running to show the fight.

Im a bit behind on this thread. On catch up, good to see Carl Froch will finally be seen by more people due to a tv deal. Im bored of heavyweights and Del Boy is living up to his name thinking he will get anything against Wlad the shithouse and Amir Khan is still trying to find his next punching bag rather than go after some of the real class fighters in his weight catchment

Why wouldn't Wlad be ready for the fight? Because Haye said so? Del Boy sucks, hes a human punching bag for Wladamir. Like i said keep buying these weak pathectic excuses to get out of fighting Wladamir and Vitali. He will fight another over the hill underserved contender on pay per view no less based off of these weak excuses.

Maidana a punching bag, I've heard it all now.

Who do you suggest Khan fights next?

In fairness i shouldnt have labelled Maidana a punching bag and that was some fight they had but since that fight the names coming out are pretty uninspiring for a man that says he could take on Mayweather Jr. Alot of good fighters out there and he isnt getting linked with any of them. Wondering if he just doesnt attract the American public and generate PPV

He's waiting for the winner of Bradley/Alexander so he can set up a unification fight hopefully. Nothing else he can do really except take a tune-up fight, there aren't really a lot of available names out there at the moment.

There's no way in hell Wlad fights twice in 9 weeks. He might have said it, but it's never happening.

Lol. He fought the most dangerous puncher in the division.

He can't fight Bradley or Alexander seen as though they are fighting each other, with a view to a possible rematch.

So that leaves.....

erm.....not much considering he's already beaten Malignaggi and Kotelnik.

Here are the WBA rankings

Champion - Amir Khan

1. Marcos Maidana
2. Victor Ortiz
3. Brunet Zamora
4. Alberto Mosquera
5. Paul McCloskey
6. Lamont Peterson
7. Volodymyr Kravets
8. Erik Morales
9. Zab Judah
10. Victor Cayo
11. Paul Malignaggi
12. Breidis Prescott
13. Yoshihiro Kamegai
14. Tim Coleman
15. Josesito Lopez

He's just beaten Maidana. Ortiz looked poor against Peterson. Khan offered Peterson 200k but Peterson turned it down. So now it looks like he's fighting McCloskey.

He's got limited options until the winner of Alexander - Bradley is free.

Del Boy might suck but take into account the short space of time there is no chance he could fight 2 fights so close to each other. He doesnt need to fight Del Boy so why do it? Haye is bringing more to the table with the UK PPV money than Wlad is so Haye has every right to be pissed by what Wlad has done. Its rumoured that Haye will take on Ruslan Chagaev next. Dont forget both Klitschkos have avoided Valuev over the years and that fight should of been made.

Regarding Khan and his next fight not being against a top class fighter well he was never going to be put in 2 back to back wars with a heavy handed fighter again. The fight with Paul McCloskey is a good fight a different type of fight than what he has had. A boxing match that will all be about skills from both fighters quick handspeed and counter punching from McCloskey. He will pick of Khan as he comes in during the fight Khan wont have it all his way. A battle of Ireland v England it will be a electric night if it is made the amount of Irish that will flock to see the fight it will be a sell out. Yes Paulie is the underdog but he will give it his all.

A few bits and pieces the money Paulie has been offered by Khans team for the fight isnt the greatest. And Paulies team have gone back with what they think they can get for this fight. Its a risk but they seem to think they will get what they think is fair. To be honest McCloskey can wait till Bradleys title becomes vacate and he would be fighting for that title against maybe Olusegun.

Also Macklin v Winky Wright is made signed for 9th of April on the under card of Morales v Marquez I hope Sky will show this fight.
<a class="postlink" href="http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=6030924" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing ... id=6030924</a> full report.

To be honest for Macklin no matter what happens if he wins or looses in the US he will have 1 more fight over there if he looses a fight with the whoever gets beaten in the Lee v Duddy fight. If he wins and looks good doing it he could fight for a World title in the US.

Jamie MacDonell makes the 2nd defence of his European Bantamweight title against Belgian Stephane Jamoye.

Leeds former British super-featherweight champion Carl Johanneson (29-4) boxes Akaash Bhatia (15-1).

Ian Napa v Terry Flanagan.
Liam Cameron v Lester Walsh.
Glenn Foot v Dee Mitchell.

a 13 fight card.
