I'll post a link for the main card when It starts/when I find one.

Just on Donaire/Montiel, I think it's a toss up fight. I favour Donaire slightly yes, but Montiel is more than capable of taking him out. Should be a FOTY contender anyway.

Montiel/Donaire isn't getting much play here in the U.S., nobody seems to care about the lower weight classes. I'd agree w/ it being a possible FOTY candidate though, I've been impressed w/ Donaire since he KO'd Darchinyan.

The co-feature has a local guy (for me) named Mike Jones who looks to be a real prospect. Hopefully he'll be more up for this fight than he was the first time he fought this guy.

Donaire is a beast. Certainly an elite level fighter now.

I've not seen it yet. Heard he was shite though.

Mike Jones was disappointing again I thought. Expected him to take Soto-Karass out pretty easily this time.
I didn't see the Jones fight.

I saw another really funny Tyson Fury interview though. He's an idiot, but i'm glad he's an idiot.

Big John McDermott won aswell.

Theophane vs Daws was a cracker. Good night all around.

Witter should call it a day now. In the first 4 rounds he would of been winning the fight but it went downhill after that and quick. It was like he ran out of gas and the fight was sloopy as fuck.
The Daws fight was fight of the night for me. A fight that swung 1 way to the other in the end and Theopane deserved his win.
Frankie Gavin was the preformance of the night from British cards a late replacement and he was punch perfect on his way to a stoppage Warren has a cracking fighter on his hands here and I would expect under Warren he has every chance of winning a World title in years to come.
I dont mind Fury he called out Del Boy even wanted a face to face but Del Boy went missing when Wlad beats Del Boy this fight between the 2 will be made and my money is on Fury he will be a World Champion with Manny Steward training him and being part of the Klitschkos training camps he will be moulded into a Klitschko type fighter.

Finaly Donaire a great KO on the night. The lad that said the lower weights over in the US dont do well but they are normally the higher standard fights. When the Super 6 finishes over there I would love to see a Super 6 in the Super Bamtamweight divison. My 6 fighters would be Wilfredo Vazquez Jnr WBO Champion , Doniare WBC , WBO bamtamweight champion , Akifumi Shimoda WBA superbamtamweight champion , Guillermo Rigondeaux WBA interm Superbamtamweight champion , Toshiaki Nishioka WBC Superbamtamweight champion and if they can get Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym former WBA Superbamtamweight champion back down to the division it would be a top class super 6. All these fighters have the speed and power to delight many a fan but sadly not 1 fighter from Europe in the selection.

Jones obviously didn't want to run out of gas again, he fought a smart disciplined fight.

Jones was linked with a fight with Kell Brook and I wouldnt mind seeing them go at it but with Brook being promoted by Warren I cant see Warren taking that risk to put him in with Jones but I would expect both to fight each other in the coming years.

Was well gutted for Larry as he`s a personal friend (not taking anything away from JMcD as I think he`s a very under-rated fighter)but this was a big step up for Larry even though I know he trained hard for it, not spoke to him since as I`ll just leave him to get his head around it first and hopefully he can come back stronger for it.

I heard Larry was only recently signed up by Warren. This is a bad start for him. Once tagged his lack of defence killed him off. Thats 1 thing for him to work on in the gym in the coming months. A slow build up of fighting jobbers on the cards for him for the next 16 months then step him up to British level to see were he is. All the top fighters who have got a defeat on there record cards to win a World title from the UK it means fuck all ask Khan and Haye once he has the heart to continue then he should fight on if not call it a day.

Exactly mate and not the best start at all, worst thing is I spoke to him the day after he knew the fight was a goer and I mentioned to him to watch John slipping his lead and coming in with his right and left hooks (and leaving clinches aswell as he tends to do the same) so he was aware of it, I think sometimes he just lets expectations get the better of him and John just used his experience and drew him in, right now I know he`ll be hurting and thinking he`s let people down.

Personally I think a few more sessions with Freddie Roach and learning to relax will be of huge benefit, he`ll come again as he`s a strong character.

Get the right people around him and he should be grand every one goes on about being unbeaten keeping that 0. I have seen the likes of Naz who was a great fighter who just lost the passion as soon as he got beaten. Then you see people like Audley who was slated for years rebuild himself up and got as far as fighting for a World title. Say that 2 years ago people would of said you were taking the piss. Roach is a class trainer him and his team will sort the lad out.

On a side note I see Warren is having problems with Kevin Mitchell. Mitchell isnt happy with the money he is offered to fight John Murray. He was quoted as saying that he is willing to call it a day and retire from boxing. I dont mind Mitchell but Warren seems to have a bit of a history in these cases be it Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe all taking cases against him for 1 reason or the other.

I think you`re right personally Leighton, I think going with someone who understands his natural style and enhancing/adapting it better is the way forward, he`s just not a typical boxer and to gear everything to something he`s not is always gonna cause problems, whether that`s what will happen I`m not too sure as Larry`s a very loyal person, especially to Cookie, just spoke to him briefly after I posted and he`s basically having a rest and a think to see where he goes from here.

I think Warren is a neccesary evil for many fighters unfortunately mate, he has a lot of influence but sometimes you have to dance with the devil, personally I`ve no time for him and would tend to believe the boxers version of events.

Regarding Warren hopefully more fighters avoid him. I think the new age promotors out there would be the way I would want to go if I was in the pro game. The likes of Hatton and Haye would be 1 of my choices as both seemed to run a decent set up and once Haye retires he will go back full time into boxing promotions. He had a decent stable under Hayemaker when they were on Setanta. They had Derry Mathews , Ryan Rhodes , Martin Lindsey and George Groves to name a few which for a new promotion company was a decent line up. So in the future I can see Hatton and Haye getting some of the better younger fighters now that they have both got a deal with Sky.

I hope you`re right mate, don`t think we`ll ever get rid of that `murky, underworld` image completely but professional, credible, accountable, high profile promoters is deffo the way forward imo, remember Terry Marsh lol ? I think that sums Warren up really.

Bit before my time mate but I beleive he was sent down for attemped murder on Frank Warren in the late 80s or early 90s. Was a decent fighter as well and retired unbeaten so my Dad says.

Think he was on remand and acquitted eventually Leighton, whether he was involved I guess only a few people really know but doesn`t remove the fact someone tried to `off` Warren lol, but yeah Marsh was a very good fighter, incredible workrate and stamina, was never really a favourite of mine though and didn`t follow him too closely so can`t really comment on his undefeated record.

This weekends fights look decent. 2 World title fights and Carl Frampton fighting on the undercard in Huddersfield.
So Saturday kicks off with Sykes v Johanneson and also on the card is George Grooves which is always worth a watch and Frampton hopefully Sky show some of his fight as he is not too far away from fighting the best in the UK and Europe for a Super Bantamweight title.

Then to the US and Premier Sports for the Zab Judah v Kaizer Mabuza for the IBF Light Weltherweight title. Bit disapointed that Sky havnt got the Mat Hatton v Saul Alvarez fight for the WBC Light Middleweight title I dont get Sky they have shown a lot of his fights but when it comes down to showing his biggest fight they fuck up big time. Sky should hang there heads in shame. All they have to do is just get the feed from America and dont bother sending over a team but not to show it is a kick in the balls for Hatton and Hatton promotions.

-- Thu Mar 03, 2011 10:04 pm --

Premier Sports for the next 4 weeks are showing 4 live world title in the next 4 weeks and the one next week has Andy Lee v Craig McEwan on the undercard of Sergio Marthinez world title fight. So Sky dont bother with the American cards and Premier are there to show us some of those cards you just cant knock them. £7 for a month it is well worth it for the month.
