The Boxing thread

Yeah have to go with GGG but I think most he's gone in with have known they were going to get beat
I believe Brook believes he can pull it off having an unbeaten fighters mindset and that will make it a more interesting closer fight than many think
Brook will be the fastest most accurate puncher he's faced for along time so if he carries enough power up and is hurting GGG on the way in you never know
He's also 34 and not done that many rounds of late

Really looking forward to this one and would love to see Brook pull it off but I'll say GGG in 11

Yeh 34 my bad doesn't really change the point in any way though does it, he's mid 30s was my point and he's talked of almost as if he's a young pro.

I get your point mate. Personally I think Canelo would beat GGG on point's because this fight dosnt look like happening any time some, and this will benefit Canelo imo. There again, i thought Cruz would beat Frampton on points. Still, there's no denying GGG is a class act and until recently i've blamed promoter's for chasing the cash, and rightly so. I do now honestly believe fighters such as Canelo are swerving this fight. He talked it up after the Khan fight but nothing since. He's made his coin so no need for this not to happen.

Yeah Adidas i heard stuff about another fight at the end of the year. But Carl wants to fight back in Belfast it was earlin 2015 when he last boxed in Belfast. I think they have many options to mull over before deciding the next fight. I think whatever fight makes Carl the biggest money he will go that way. May not be Selby next for some reason. Holding that fight for a big summer show would be great. Wouldnt be shocked to see both fighting on the same card in November early December leading into a late spring early summer fight with the pair. Feel the Oydessy Arena in Belfast isnt big enough Windsor Park in the summer time would be a huge stadium fight but i also feel that Lee isnt a big draw for that fight yet sadly. So whenever the fight happens it will be great for boxing in the UK and Ireland and we need fighters fighting the best in the division. ALso hearing that Selby might be spliting from Matchroom too, dont know how true that is.

Yeah I hope this fight earns GGG his own payday to be fair(although he is pretty popular he's got to be doing well for himself for his last few fights being HBOs main man at moment), I've no idea how much of a draw Brook is outside of the UK though to be honest.

Kell could be huge outside of the UK some tasty fights out there for him but he would have to do a stint in the US is kell willing to do that and build up his profile over there more. Only Kell and his team can answer that. I guess he is getting paid well by matchroom and thats stopping him from travelling regular.

I think a catch weight at 158 would be fair for both fighters.Canelo fought Khan at 155 but is renowned for gaining the pounds come fight night. GGG weighed in at 159 in his last fight so don't see a problem regarding weight. Question is, would they both agree. Im a big fan of Canelo and love watching him fight, plus he's been in with the bigger names. I've changed my tune regarding Golovkin and dont think the problem is him not wanting the big fights, i think it's the other way rnd, i believe he'd fight anyone.
The Kell fight is great for both fighters, Kell needs a name after the Porter fight and it dosnt get much bigger than Golovkin, plus i can only remember GGG fighting outside the state's a few times so for your average boxing fan they will get to see the master at work. He fought Murray on CH5 in Monte Carlo but his fights are mainly on Boxnation and not Sky. Plus his fight on CH5 clashed with Fury on Sky, so will this time will get maximum exposure.

Money wise, Canelo & GGG are allegedly worth 20 mil + net each. Seems mad considering the age difference. I read that Canelo was paid a flat10 mil for his last fight against Khan. This didn't include his cut of the PPV rights that topped it up to between 12-15 large. Khan was allegedly paid a flat 6 mil but no cut of the tv money. This brings us back to GGG missing out because his opponents havnt been names that people really know hence the bigger tv deals. Is that GGG fault or is it that fighters don't want to fight him. Kell imo has nothing to lose, he will make top dollar and respect for taking the fight. Sadly for Kell i think he'll get a boxing lesson that night.

Regarding GGG its hard none of the major stars want anything to do with GGG. He has KO'd a lot of boxers and some of these guys he has KO'd had very good chins in my opinion. The likes of Martin Murray and Mat Macklin all have very good chins yet GGG kod both. Now for GGG if he doesnt get the Canelo fight which he wants people will always question how good he was. I can honestly see him fighting Canelo next hopefully a huge money offer is made to both and then GGG moving up to Super Middleweight and cleaning up the titles up there too beating Badou Jack , James DeGale and Ramirez but he needs the Canelo fight to happen big time. GGG may only have 3 years left in him.

I've got to admit I'm a huge GGG fanboy, but I honestly believe the only reason Lemiuex is the biggest name on his record because all the other top middleweights want nothing to do with him. Canelo, Jacobs, BJS all swerved him so he looked at the second tier fighters and then Eubank Jnr couldn't find his goolies to sign the contract. Fairplay to Kell for taking this fight hes getting paid well and no doubt in my mind he believes he can win but sadly he wont. The most disappointing thing is he wont go back to 147 now where things are getting tasty, Thurman-Porter-Spence-Garcia and potentially Crawford soon moving up (Also thing Vargas is a poor champion and would have been an easy 2nd belt for Kell), some great fights to be made but I think now hes going up to 160 hes going to settle back down at 154. Still some good fights to be made but I wonder how long Andrade, the Charlos and Lara are going to stick about before moving up to 160 themselves.

I think a lot of money for fights comes down to nationality and the money HBO provide. The US has a huge Mexican population that are crazy about any sports that includes some one from there country so Canelo is a cash cow as he is good as well.
Obviously GGG is great but he is from Kazakhstan and other than proper boxing fans he isnt going to draw in the numbers of viewers. The same with the British fighters, they hope to get big bids from the British TV companies to make the deal they pay worthwhile
