The Boxing thread

i agree. My issue is with the hype....this is a medium hall fight or perhaps a bit of a tasty undercard stadium showdown, dressed up as a classic 'fight for the ages'..the automatic rematch clause already suggests an outcome, after all, where would either go afterwards?
Hype i guess is from the past, its manufactured but that's what creates viewership. The problem arises when people would rather watch this than someone like Inoue..!

More hype equals more money. This is an easy one to hype up given the fights and rivalry their Dad's had. Both have had a nice route into the sport thanks to their father's and realistically given Eubank's age he's not getting another world title fight and Benn with his drug scandal is miles off one as well. Why not fight each other for huge money instead. Then have a second fight and even a third if you can.

No problem with the rationale, just the way it is being pumped up into something its not. I may watch, I may not...like most punters on here I certainly won't be paying for the privelidge...frankly I don't like either man, or their fathers. Was happy back in the day when Collins sorted them both out!

The vast majority of fights these days are pumped into something they're not. The youtube fights don't help either, those guys are making more money than some of the world champs see.

I'm with you. They're both absolute cunts.

And Eubank can’t even make the weight . Totally unprofessional and sums these clowns up

The fact that Eubank has missed the weight and Benn is miles under it, demonstrates what a contrived rip off this fight is. The two fighters, neither of whom are top class, are nowhere near in the same weight division, and if they had different surnames the fight wouldn’t be sanctioned. Each to their own, but anybody lining Eddie already bulging pockets to watch this farce is getting fleeced. I’d sooner watch the two fathers have a go, even now.

oh no...he failed two tests, that is not in dispute. He was 'cleared to fight' I think afte the BBBC and anti doping couldnt be arsed spending the money to appeal against the testing agency ...I think!...it was all very murky mate.

again he was cleared of any wrong doings, after different investigations from different organisations.

If we go with what your saying then City are guilty of everything

Eubank vs Benn
Please don't associate this fight with the art or sport of boxing and the rules. The British Board of Boxing Control are a disgrace to allow this fight to happen, Look, Benn cheated and failed 2 drug tests, but money talks and now the rules mean fuck all and Boxing is starting to become WWE fake.

Eubank Sr is spot on. This fight should be off and not happen because it's a joke, Boxing is a sport and a skilled art form with rules, Somebody could get badly hurt when the rules are bent and abused.

Eubank vs Benn is a glorified street fight taking place in a ring, it's like a dog fight with baying owners poking demand the dogs to fight.

UKAD, who performed both tests never cleared him and still think he is guilty. No one has said he has proved he is not guilty. The independent doping agency said that they were not comfortably satisfied that he cheated.
He failed the UKAD tests and has never proven his innocence. UKAD just dont have the funds to contest it any further.

It's the total opposite of what happened to City. UKAD have irrefutable evidence that he had prohibited substances 8n his blood.

I feel sick seeing Eubank Jnr trying to make that weight so crazy no wonder Chris Eubank doesn't think the fight shouldn't happen. The risks Eubanks is taken are huge. I hope for him he smashes up Benn. Benn is a drugs cheat to the highest. Its a joke the boxing needs the sport cleaning up big time. I be honest I would have a 5 year ban plus on anyone found doping. You can appeal it but ban them. Its a must to clean up the sport.
As others have said I would rather watch there dad's fighting. The undercard I like the Liam Smith V Aaron McKenna fight. I think McKenna might edge it and be too strong for Smith but it could be the fight of the night those McKenna brothers have some talent.

He is fighting at the same weight he has fought for years 160lb - his last fight at 167lbs was against De Gale in feb 2019.

Eubank at his age to make that weight was never happening. This is all to favour Benn the drug cheat. Benn wins tomorrow Eddie will be wanting a World title fight for him. Its a complete joke.
Eubank has been fighting at this weight for many years, It's a weight he should have been able to make without a problem at all, Absolutely no excuse for him to miss the weight.

Understandable you've concerns over Conor Benn, Although now it's just turned into who's word do you take regarding the subject, They've brought in top UK Nutritionists who found no conclusive evidence along with the sanctioning bodies saying there were no failures in the procedures related to the sample collection, Conor Benn was very compliant throughout the whole procedure.

That his correct the vast majority have been at 160 not 168 but he didn't need to make 160 for this fight, it is still going ahead, and the money isn't a major loss.

Eubank v Benn 2 - Benn was 6lbs over before the weigh in, and ruined himself to make it, the main reason he didn't win it as he spent hours on a static bike in a bin bag in front of an electric bar fire.

It is a novelty fight not a championship eliminator. The two should not be fighting each other with this fake rivalry to make money, many weight classes apart.

I used to love Boxing back in the 80s / 90s. British middleweight scene was electric. Loved lloyd Honeghan in particular. Its lost its way completely as a sport

Started with Minter v Hagler in the 160s that decade for me. What a display by Hagler, it was a execution and the beer cans at the end from the Minter fans vexed that a black guy won summed up the time.

So why did he have prohibited substances in 2 UKAD blood tests?

The rules on somebody found cheating and taking drugs should be a life ban, Clean the sport of boxing up once and for all, Benn saying it was from eggs that somebody made him in the camp is still his fault and tough. If the rules were that tough, you can bet your bottom dollar he does not take the risk and everything is double/triple checked,

Benn was guilty and knew it ? performance-enhancing drug clomifene found in his system ? by mistake ok
