The Boxing thread

Canelo's(154lb Light Middleweight) vacated the belt but negotiations are taking place for a bout... GGG(160lb Middleweight) doesn't fancy a catchweight though which without the belts is the fairest way to get a bout sorted. Disagree? like I also said let's see how GGG does moving up weight against Ward(168lb Super Middleweight) then?

Am I right in thinking the Middleweight division isn't so hot at the moment regarding legitimate Middleweight fighters if you take away GGG?

Who is there who can be considered near the top ranked P4P?

All I see is Jacobs, Saunders, Eubank Jr, Hassan N'Dam... there's no mega-fight there.

Jacobs and Saunders are brilliant fights to be made. GGG and Saunders are my two fave fighters atm.

You would have Andy Lee in there too. He is in exciting fights and is still a bit of a draw out in the US. Also Jason Quigley if he keeps progressing the way he is he will be in some big fights in the next year or so. He will go into the big fights sooner or later with Golden Boy as promoters.

Yeah I wasn't saying they wouldn't be good fights, I'd watch them for sure, but a mega fight is all about how much $$$ they can milk from the fight fans to brag about later so both fighters would have to be up around the top 10 P4P... also the GGG vs Canelo thing seems to be more about the battle for the P4P king spot now Mayweather has "retired", most hardcore will tell you it's Ward anyway at the moment. I also think in terms of his record Canelo's is much better than GGG's, so at 34y.o I really hope Triple G secures the kind of names/level of opposition he needs to live up to his reputation in these next few years rather than chasing one megafight($$$) that drags out or he could run out of time(although it does seem fighters are aging better these days, perhaps thanks to fitness and nutrition advancements). If he doesn't get those kind of fights we will look at it on paper and ask: "who did he really fight?" when all is said and done.

Watching David Haye on Saturday night on Dave as it's free. He'll inevitably win within three rounds.

Nice to see Terry Flanagan on the Fury - Klitchsko undercard.

For anyone who know boxing how has Hatton done with his promotions? Seemed to have fallen off quite a lot from when it first started? Did hearns just steamroller him?

He's got a few young lads he manages (look out for heavyweight Nathan Gorman), along with some bigger names internationally - Lucas Browne, Sergey Rabchenko and Zhanat.

Struggles due to a lack of TV deal though. He is working with FW, although not sure if there's a deal in place, to get some of his guys on Boxnation.

Lads Hatton Promotions will be running a lot of shows in Dublin. Or co running shows in Dublin with FS Promotions here. They want to bring Irish boxing back to the capital again. Hatton will be the key to Boxnation as fights will be on there just like the MGM fights earlier in the year. So he has some of his fighters fighting here. First fight is June 25th in Dublin National Stadium.

As for Haye on Dave again its great to see another fight on free to air tv again.

Hatton has got the Upton bros on his books. I think Paulie has just won irish title. Doesn't surprise me if he's after the irish market

Good win for Parker and a good test against Takam. Needs to keep his hands higher and stop turning his back, only Floyd gets away with that. Decent speed for a heavy and showed some good work on the inside. Still think he's miles behind AJ & co but will make his mark on the top ten, imo.

Think he was lucky takam seemed to just waste rounds doing nothing. Parker looked nackered in the fifth and got given the time to recover. He's still a lot to learn and think if he fights Joshua next he won't go past 6 rounds

Just watched ' Tapia ' the HBO documentary on his life story. Brilliant watch, and despite his demons a true warrior in the ring. He died a month after the film was made.

Truly shocking life story. He has a biography, think its called Mi Vida Loca. Painful stuff to read about
