The bunting has started appearing

Will probably get slated for this, but I find a 73yr old man still calling him Ma, mummy a bit wierd.
Ma, Mam, Mum, Mother, the old dear etc seems about right, mummy though? Is he 4 yrs old or getting her embalmed of sommat.

Maybe it's just me, but don't think I have called me mam mummy since I was a yound child

All a bit Jimmy Savile innit.

that’s kind of my point. 17 million people apparently wanting a republic. If people were that against the royal family surely they’d be more people actively trying to remove it. It’s a tiny minority overall who want that.

it’s clearly emotive for some posters on here
17 million seems an apt figure, given what happened in 2016.

Watched the coronation with liz talking , from five yrs ago and the other one home footage of her as a child with the family up to the coronation , lovely to see her as a child and young woman dancing and having fun , showed her going off on tour and her ailing dad there waving her off , it said he was never told he had lung cancer

Also learnt about all the kings and queens relevant to the story , all the dramas that tackle the really old stories , with added sex scenes lol, got lots of the facts right

Concent last night was good if a bit cheesy , i imaged liz at home in her scruffy dressing gown and whatever she drinks in hand , probably smartly dressed though knowing her

Todays street parties and parade is too much , three days were enough

don’t agree. There might be 17 million who aren’t that bothered by them, but actively wanting a republic no chance
Never underestimate the apathy of people and them not being arsed to vote,

17m edged it in 2016. There is no reason why that couldn’t be the case if there is ever a referendum on the monarchy.

sorry mate I don’t agree. Brexit is a completely different subject. You can’t compare.

it’s clear the monarchy are hugely popular and there is no desire to get rid of them. You never know in the future, but right now it’s not happening.

as said in my previous post 17million actively wanting a republic is fantasy land. Right now that’s a small minority. Maybe they don’t care about the monarchy, but an active republic 0 chance

Remain were complacent too…

A referendum would only happen in two scenarios.

Now, whilst they’re looked on as favourably as they ever will be following a jubilee, or 10 years into Charlie’s reign and he’s dabbling in politics and being a big climate change advocate.

Not really over 10 Million people voted for labour runing on a left wing socialist manifesto that including aboloshing the lords and having a citizens assembly on the future of the monarchy and costitution.

Did you see 10 M on the street the day after losing for not getting it? No because we are a democracy and so people accept results and get on with life.

People have more pressing matters on their hands than toppling the royal family, doesn't mean a sizable amount of citizens wanting a republic don't exist, we would only know if a referendum was held.

I think after Lizzie it should be packed in, I see no worth in Charles or William as successors mainly because in my opinion no one is born better than anyone else and the head of state should be chosen by the people not inherit it, but as it is that is not a majority opinion, I respect the democratic will of the populace, no need to go on thwme steet protesting.

I don’t think it will ever be about becoming a republic either. It’ll be about not having an unelected family “freeloading”.
