less than 2 weeks ago this whopper was campaigning AGAINST this idea
I'm not convinced it'll work.
Reform voters do have a good chunk of Tories, but they are mostly people who have rarely, if ever, voted Tory.
Even the poll of Tory members saying nearly 50% were keen, was badly misreported. Only a small chunk of those in favour, were strongly in favour, whereas the majority of those against the idea were strongly against. And Tory members are much more right wing that the typical Tory voter.
I think you end up with less than the sum of its parts.

Merger incoming. They will give it til winter and make Farage leader
The party that had Liz the Lettuce as leader? No they won't. A Party of 121 MP's will not surrender to a Party with 5 nor will they make Farage - a person who at the drop of a hat will desert them for US Politics - even the Tories are not that stupid and desperate
The party that had Liz the Lettuce as leader?
It should speak volumes but Sue Ellen and Bad-Enoch are in the same division as Truss, if not quite as deranged.and thats why surely? They have to have learned from that and her ability to lose a 26k majority by being a lettuce - speaks volumes
Yeah, the reports of the death of the party have been greatly exagerrated....is this still a thread?
literally hanging by a threadYeah, the reports of the death of the party have been greatly exagerrated.
Hope the recommendations lead to arrests

First Covid inquiry report to set out ‘appalling failures’ during pandemic
Catalogue of errors by government and health officials includes the deliberate winding down of PPE stockpileswww.theguardian.com
I was once in a high end, west end restaurant for lunch. We were waiting to be seated when a sweaty man pushed his way in. He announced to the waiter he was meeting his friends who were already in. Then as he walked past the bar, without stopping, he ordered a quadruple sherry on the rocks and pointed at his table. It was none other than Geoffrey Cox MP meeting up with Jeffrey Archer.Agreed. Think this pre-election poll is telling:

The strongest Tory lead (sherry) is also the strongest Lib Dem and the weakest Reform.
They'll lose a fair deal of the core they've relied on for so long if they go as far right as to pander to Reform IMO.
This is where I assume a lot of tories are on Truss.
The forgotten man
