The Conservative Party

I'm not convinced it'll work.

Reform voters do have a good chunk of Tories, but they are mostly people who have rarely, if ever, voted Tory.

Even the poll of Tory members saying nearly 50% were keen, was badly misreported. Only a small chunk of those in favour, were strongly in favour, whereas the majority of those against the idea were strongly against. And Tory members are much more right wing that the typical Tory voter.

I think you end up with less than the sum of its parts.

Agreed. Think this pre-election poll is telling:

The strongest Tory lead (sherry) is also the strongest Lib Dem and the weakest Reform.
They'll lose a fair deal of the core they've relied on for so long if they go as far right as to pander to Reform IMO.

Merger incoming. They will give it til winter and make Farage leader

No they won't. A Party of 121 MP's will not surrender to a Party with 5 nor will they make Farage - a person who at the drop of a hat will desert them for US Politics - even the Tories are not that stupid and desperate

I was once in a high end, west end restaurant for lunch. We were waiting to be seated when a sweaty man pushed his way in. He announced to the waiter he was meeting his friends who were already in. Then as he walked past the bar, without stopping, he ordered a quadruple sherry on the rocks and pointed at his table. It was none other than Geoffrey Cox MP meeting up with Jeffrey Archer.
