This time last week I was paying the equivalent of £1.54 a litre for diesel.According to the Beeb:
Thirteen European countries have reduced fuel duty. - eleven have reduced it by more than the British government.
Some text from the report, bear in mind the UK reduction was 5p per litre:
Germany had taken the equivalent of 25p a litre in tax off per litre of petrol, Italy 21p, Portugal 16p, and both Ireland and the Netherlands had cut duty by nearly 15p.
Other governments have introduced fuel discounts that take effect when motorists are paying at forecourt tills, with Spain cutting prices by about 17p a litre and France 15p.
Today in Macclesfield aforecourt display changed in front of my eyes to £1.99.
