The Conservative Party

Just seen what Sky are offering from Rigby to their viewers from an interview with Badenoch. As mentioned in early posts, there can be no dispute that those that own the media have decided that they want Reform in charge.

What was her party doing for 14 years?

Suddenly, they need to do something about sentencing in order to save the country - while our prisons are full, and they won't raise taxes to pay for either more Police, Prison Officers or Prisons.
Meanwhile, in the real world, there are several thousand less Tories about at the conference than previously.

It's more of a gathering than a conference.

they were cutting prison places due to costs which means we're 14 years behind the numbers actually needed.

Or, one deciding we no longer need strategic weapons when we’re on the precipice of a world war, and the other counting his back handers from his Russian handlers.

Actually they’d both be counting their back handers from their Russian handlers.

Political extremists terrify me which is why we need functional and electable mainstream parties. If you believe in mainstream centre left or centre right politics, we need both the Conservatives and Labour to improve, regardless of who you support.
In the age of Capitalism, we need, as you say, strong and reliable centre left and centre right parties. When one is in govt, the other needs to be strong in opposition, damping any move too far away from the balance that is needed by either side that’s in power so nothing strays too far to an extreme. This balance should make Capitalism work for everyone.

The most extreme ideas that should ever be seen are the nationalisation of public services on one side and strong immigration regulation on the other. With strong parties on each side, the ideal situation would be that both of those ideas exist at the same time.

Not oniy have we not got a strong opposition party, we haven’t even had a strong party in govt for a long time. And the last few GEs have seen landslide victories in seat numbers for the winner, which should mean a strong bloody party in govt. but it’s been a far cry from that from both Labour and Conservatives.

No matter how bad Johnson and Truss etc. were, we should not be happy to see the opposition in tatters, like the Conservatives currently are, because a result of that is Reform gaining traction and the loss of that balance that’s needed across the moderate ground of politics. Their own fault entirely, granted, they were shit and we should be angry with them for fucking us over, but we should not be happy to see them broken as a party because it’s not good for politics in general.

Even if we would never vote Conservative, we should want a strong Conservative Party (or another centre right party, there just isn’t one out there, until there is a party called the ‘One Nation Party’ or whatever, a viable centre right party, we need the Conservatives to be functional and strong). A party that has strong politicians who will stop the leech too far to the right from their own side, and would be strong in opposition to a Labour Party (or another viable centre left party) in govt to stop them from leeching too far to the left. Likewise, Tory voters should always want a strong Labour Party for the same reasons the other way.

What we have instead is a mess of a political landscape.

Handsworth is 12% white British.

Let’s extrapolate that to the whole of the U.K. would you have an issue with just 12% of the U.K. being white British?

Has any other country on Earth undergone a demographic change like us in the last 60yrs? Feels like we are some kind of experiment
Total fucking nonsense. Why would you extrapolate from such an extreme starting position?

Badenoch is clearly lazy. Offering nothing new. She just comes out with the same old meaningless nonsense. She has tried to give the impression she is a force of nature. Rather, she has been found to be weak, lazy, lacking in leadership and drive, and no more effective than a gnat farting into a gust of wind. She is pathetic in all honesty.

Tbh, she didn’t need to give a conference speech to know she’s pathetic.
The Tories are at the bottom of the barrel for leaders

I’m just glad the great leader Kemi is going to sort out the last 15 years of communist rule we’ve had. If we’d had a Tory government in general, and Kemi had been part of it in particular, we’d be a united country with none of the issues presided over by these left wing lunatics.

She’s had a go at people in unions (they’d be working people), she’s said she’ll reduce spending on welfare because 6.5 million are ‘sitting at home claiming benefits (which is an out and out lie), she’s going to ‘scrap the education tax’ which doesn’t seem to have led to the closure of ONE public school. She’s going to scrap the ‘family farm tax’ so they can pay the same (usually less) income tax as everyone else but will pay a lot less when they are, in fact, dead! It will benefit the billionaires though, so that ok.

Everyone should work but she’s going to sack 33% of the civil service and she argued against Teresa May who said we could fight more crime with less police so the Marxists in charge for the last decade and a half have been doing just that.

Go Kemi…

Scrapping stamp duty is classic tax cutting tory policy - it’s appealing to me personally - but how the hell they plan to pay for it when the country is skint and on its arse is beyond me.

It’s a nonsense, a bit of a crowd pleaser to keep her in the job for another few weeks.

I do wonder where all the centrist / Cameroon tory voters are? The Lib Dem’s? Labour?

If they had a Rory Stewart type figure in I’d consider voting for them, especially given Labour seem to be disappointing.

Surely there are more votes to be won in the centre ground than fighting with the fringe nutters…
