It might not be fit for purpose in the 2020's .....but the Torys aren't exactly banging on the door of the UN lobbying for changes are they? Instead they are winding their base up .... this issue and backlog has been created by them .
 
Just saw a statistic yesterday. The average UK standard of living is now below the average in the Czech Republic. It is forecast to go below that of Poland.

These are countries recovering from half a century of Communism and Russian exploitation of their resources. What, exactly, is our excuse?

BTW if we are really that poor, and it seems we are, we cannot afford luxuries such as nuclear bombs and aircraft carriers. Whether we 'need' them or not is neither here nor there. We can't afford them. Amazingly, we spend more of our GDP on defence than Germany does, but we also spend less than them on education and health.

But some seem to think that we are still ''Great'' Britain.

They are not in government and haven’t been for 13 years. If and when they take power they will be judged on what they do.

In the meantime we have the worst government in my longish lifetime who are fucking up everything they touch but that appears to be okay with you.

Well said. Typical Tory tactics concentrating on minor issues in an attempt to wake up the little Englander. The bigger picture is stark and simple the country is on its arse and has been put there by 13 years of incompetent government. Unless of course you are wealthy in which case everything is going to plan.
