Our council tried to stop a free school but the financial incentives (supposedly temporary for start up costs) got it going. They are very good at weeding out unsuitable pupils so it does well in academic results but it frankly doesn't sound like a fun place to be.

Councils have a duty to promote "school improvement" but no powers to make an academy trust take any notice of any advice.

It’s very simple, they believe in a class system and their whole being is to take us back to the times where they take all the money and workers are just that, scum who they can tread upon.

I couldn’t understand why they have been so ardent on their policies, now they have shown their hand it should be a red flag for all of us.

This isn’t their end-game.

It's as 'undemocratic' as the system that elected them in the first place. But obviously it's only 'undemocratic' if it doesn't give him the results he wants.
 
I think the CDO are correct in believing "Boris has got the ability to connect". But that is more due to the gullible nature of the electorate than to him offering workable policies.
 
Looks like Rob Burrows will get a hospital built before this bunch of chancers do.

Braverman banging on this morning about how the Government must honour their pledge to stop / reduce immigration but nothing about honouring their pledge to build 40 new hospitals.


Tories always have the money to build speed bumps but never the cash to fill in potholes.
