The Conservative Party

For what it’s worth,there is a local council by-election near me in Essex which is solid Tory. Talked to the canvassers and it’s a straight fight between Labour and Reform. The Tory vote is on the floor. Can’t see Labour winning given the area, but I’m surprised by how much the Tory vote has collapsed.

I’m even more surprised by the lack of action on the Tory leadership front. But then what is the point of the Tory party? Being Reform lite is pointless. They are no longer the party of business, so what exactly who or what are they meant to represent?

The thing about the Tories is that they've never acted in the interests of the majority of the population. But they've consistently been elected because they represent the interests of big business and established power, and those people put their money into convincing enough of the general population that voting for the Tories is in their best interests. When that money and power shifts to another party, as potentially seems to be happening, they could be finished.

It's already happening, with the entirety of the right wing media desperate to push the narrative that a party that got 4 million votes (which not too many years ago, would have been a bad result for the Lib Dems) and 5 MPs are the favourites to win the next general election. A party that would have to double their vote just to almost match the worst ever vote for Labour. And so you might find that come election time, all of these big right wing voices go back to the Tory party, because they realise that there are a lot of people who will vote them out of habit, and splitting the right wing vote will just mean Labour get in again. I feel like the media support for Reform at the moment is more about giving Labour a kicking, but they'll all return home again come election time, because like it or not, the Tories know how to win an election.

With the current crop of Tory MPs, it would be a miracle if they won the next election. They are like the rags, needing a massive cull and start again with new blood

Come election, people still put crosses in certain boxes because , “they have always voted that way”.
come election day, people saying they will vote reform will shit their knickers and still vote tory

I'd say that's even more likely if they elect jenrick to replace badenoch seeing as his policies are pretty much the same as reform anyway

Populist lunatics. Do people not understand that we don’t have to leave the ECHR to look after our borders, and leaving it leaves everyday people to massive exploitation? Do people know how many people actually use the ECHR rules to stay in this country, it’s a tiny amount.

Reminds me of the lies of Brexit. Whip people up who will not question what they are being told, because it plays on their prejudices. Then, when they think that they’ve made it, they realise that the £350 million into the NHS was a load of bullshit and they were just that little bit poorer.

Call me a cynic but I’d suggest that they have been getting the ECHR bullshit into the public discourse so that when they think the time comes, the British people accept the bullshit they have been told as the truth.

And then they are coming for you.

Question -

If they ditch Badenoch (likely) who today was endorsed by Hollinrake, Philp, Cleverley and even Jenrick and then replace her with Jenrick who does he promote? All the known names are toxic - indeed some like Patel and Mourdant who are known faces could immediately begin campaigns for the top job and try to stop Jenrick then what if he beats them?

Congratulations Boris Johnson you killed your party in less than a decade
