I never realised we wore skirts! :)
Sour times.

We couldn't win there last season but did in 1998 and 1999.

The promotion season wasn't that bad.

i remember this. watched it at my grandads, i was 8. isnt it funny how they talk about our history and how we are a big club. you would never believe it these days.

I was just listening to 'Don't go Away' and it minded me of this thread. The music was played by Sky at the end of the broadcast. I'll be thinking of days like this when we bring the title back to Manchester.

darkest moment for me was huddersfield at home we got beat and i knew we were in terrible trouble, got home just as the sky programme was finishing and they were showing the highlights with natalie umbruglia singing TORN every time i heAR that tune it takes me right back.

I'm torn
I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am chained
Lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm cold and I am shamed And broken on the floor
And I can see the perfect sky is torn
You're a little late
I'm already torn

very apt song for my feelings on that day.

I had a dream in which I correctly predicted the score!

I woke up and ran to the computer (barely any PL matches on TV in the US in 1998, no chance of Div 1) and, seeing the score my heart leapt, only to come crashing back down when I saw the table and we were relegated. What a horrible day. Wish I hadn't dreamt about it at all, but possibly should have bought a lottery ticket...

Craig Russell. God my mind had removed any memory of him to protect me from potential self harming. He was seriously shit.
To be fair, he wasn't on his own in that team. The facts don't lie; they weren't good enough to stay in the second tier of English football. For every Gio, there were 3 or 4 Craig Russells.

no, wrong, for every Gioi there were 8,9,10 maybe more Craig Russels

If that hadn't happened then nor would this.

Worst ever feeling of all my City supporting life. Sickened me to my stomach.

As it turned out I quite enjoyed the third division. Some of the trips were a laugh (I was 16/17 that season so learning the delights of getting pissed up at the footy for the first time!).

I always thought it was character building and made me realise we were just another club like all those down there at that level. I look at the teams still down there and see so many similar names. I've got a lot of respect for fans who go and watch those teams week-in-week-out, proper loyal fans. We were only there one year.

But the feeling of getting relegated to that division, well, it was horrible!

On the plus side, I pulled a well fit Stoke fan that day on the way down the road after the game. Went for a couple of pints and mutually commiserated, and the rest of the night went very well. You can't beat angry, depressed sex.

hahahaha
