The Derby at the Swamp Post Match Discussion Thread

Hart - he thought he knew what was coming - a near post shot. That's why he made a dick of himself, diving under the ball and flapping as it sailed over him to the back post. Easy to be critical, but not sure its entirely fair though. Perhaps we should be more critical of Yaya giving away a needless free kick when he had Rafael well covered and unable to cause any danger, when he leaned into him. In the end though, we won, so nothing else really matters!
Speaking of Yaya, WTF was he thinking when he drilled that free-kick at Aguero with about 30 seconds to go?

In the space of about 5 seconds we went from having a free-kick deep in united's half and a great opportunity to see the game out, to the rags having a corner and a chance at equalising.

It was the sort of naivety that cost us dear in Madrid and in the derby earlier in this season. Need to cut that sort of stupidity out of our game.

Thankfully it didn't hurt us this time and ruin what was a fantastic performance from the whole team.

I know, lets not be critical of any blues. The whole team were superb and really battled for it. Just drink it in, stupendous!

was purely Vinnie's fault with amateurish marking of Jones. If he'd stayed with the man and not got himself stuck underneath the ball with a misjudgement Jones a) wouldn't have got the ball and b) Vinnie wouldn't have been caught with the ball whacking him on the back from Jones's rubbish header.

Only way they could get back into the game was a simple error that Mancini alluded to in the post-match comments.

Not seen it mentioned anywhere else, but for their goal, if the ball hadn't hit Vinny, wouldn't Jones have missed an open goal from a foot out?

If it hadnt have hit Vinny then it would have gone away from goal..

Yeah , it's a bit of a mystery why Jones didn't manage to head the ball directly into the net , i can only assume he doesn't quite see the cross clearly until the last second ......

all a bit unfortunate for Vincent Kompany , who was quite brilliant last night , and could do nothing to get out of the way of Jones's header ...... in my opinion you have to ask questions of Joe Hart on that goal , his positioning did him few favours , and he MUST have known what was coming !
Jones's 'header' wasn't a header, it actually hit him on his shoulder before it bounced off Kompany.

All said & done Fergie was doing all he could in the post-match interview to put a positive spin on it, but it was written all over his face that he knew that Mancini was correct when he said we are the better team & no way are we 15 points worse than them.

The most important thing from my viewpoint was to stop their OT coronation with us & the world's media there to witness it. Hopefully, they'll win the league whilst not playing so they don't get the pleasure of winning the Prem on the pitch in front of the Swamp Dwellers. Hopefully they'll just dribble their way to the title in a damp squib fashion. :-)

Not sure if posted yet...Wonderful write up on the Blues

I was amazed that a player of his experience would do that. I couldn't believe it and evra could have scored from the corner. It was incredibly stupid

tevez, silva, yaya, kompany, zabs, clichy, bazza, nasty, milner and sergio when he came on, were phenomenal.

nasri did good and hart held onto the ball well.

motm... tricky... i'll go with silva but it could have been milner, tevez or yaya.

the best part about watching Sergio's goal that isn't the actual strike is watching MUFC captain Patrice Evra make absolutely no attempt to play his position as Aguero runs into his space and drills the game winner. Watch it again, he doesn't even make it inside the penalty area!

Watch Youngs reaction..Like a spoilt little school kid..****

Great match, wish we would play with the same passion, intensity more times in the league against lesser opponents...
There wouldnt be a big point gap that's sure.

Pretty much everybody was great, even Nasri, good all around performance. There was a nervous 20 minutes after their goal, but we reacted well and won with a beautiful goal.

We need to keep the momentum and beat Chelsea too.
