The Derby Post Match Thread

Whoa, forget this post match debate. Dominoes is one of the most underrated of pastimes.
Is it pairs 5&3's that you play Oakie? We have the local 'Top of the Hill' champions based here. Maybe we could arrange a pre-match friendly when you travel down to the Saints or Bournemouth games. Top pre-match entertainment over a jar or two of the finest ale,but be warned - what these locals lack in football knowledge, they make up for in the dark arts of the 'bones'.

Or taking it further, maybe we could get a City Domino Firm together. "Hello, is that West Ham? We've got four and we're coming down your boozer to take you on!" Could be the way forward ;-)
5/3`s is our game over here in Mid Cheshire mate and we are currently top with 3/3 wins (seasons only just started mind).Always made me smile when I used to go in a boozer by Maine Road called the Beehive.A group of West Indian men would all be playing this fine art,but when they knocked the fucking tables nearly went over, such was the force of the knock.
Definitely be interested in a game mate.

Hopefully Arsenal will do their usual and implode around the New Year mark but I do agree that they will be our strongest challengers.

I reckon that will depend on whether they make it out the Champions League group. If they go through, i predict the annual implosion. If not, it could realistically be there best chance at winning the league for years.

They are 2 points behind us, and going away in a Derby is rarely easy especially if you go there without your best attacking players.

Aguero and Silva are big misses. More so when Nasri who is the player who usually fills Silva's boots when he's out is also injured

Arsenal are getting stronger but we should win the League this season

I think we're actually agreeing with each other matey. I'm saying the rag was deluded for claiming that they were so much better and had progressed. I'd say that they were just as frightened of us, playing two defensive midfielders at home, with no width apart from the full backs, against a team they scored four against last season and that had it's two most dangerous players missing.

I think they were more defensive than we were. As the away side, with our two best players missing, I doubt we could have gone there and imposed ourselves. They had no excuse, and tried to defend themselves, with a defensive midfield three, coupled with their best player shunted out in the wing.

Unfortunately Marv, these two big players were so sorely missed on Sunday, but we need to somehow find somewhere, players of their ilk.Not easy,to say the least.

Thought we did well in the first half without key personnel. Solid defensively and a threat on the counter.

Van Gimp obviously got into them at half time and they did better in the second half, though we contributed to the slightly disjointed performance with some poor passing.

However, we were still pretty solid and came away with a point that suits us more than them.

For what it's worth starting front four should have been:

Sterling
KDB YaYa Navas

Couldn't agree more especially with the line up you put out there

Defensively we were fantastic. Definitely our strongest defence at the moment, with Kompany and Otamendi in the middle. Thought Sagna again had a quality game. Both Ferna's had a great game as well, I really like both of them together in front of the defence.

Going forward not so much. I actually thought Sterling had a decent game, and should not have been brought off so early. I'm not sure why Pelle doesn't let him play on the right, but I was again frustrated that he didn't have a go. Rojo isn't the strongest of defenders, and I think he should have had a go at him second half. De Bruyne looks so much better on the left. No doubt if Aguero was playing we'd have probably scored on the counter. Just shows how much he means to us, he is in my opinion the best in the striker in the world.

A draw was a fair result, and I think we'll dick them at our place.

It's not possible to have players of that calibre who sit on the bench, even Barca & Bayern Munich don't have that.

When all our players are fit, if we were to actually play a balanced team rather than leaving a Yaya shaped hole in midfield, we would have Yaya plus 2 in midfield & 3 places available to accomodate, Aguero, Silva, DeBruyne, Sterling, Nasri, Navas, Bony, Iheanacho, with a whole bunch of kids all coming through wanting a chance.

Even when we play a weak midfield with Yaya plus 1, we are leaving out 4 top attacking players. We add Benzema or Lewendowski to that list & we're dropping a top player for every single game, & it ain't going to be Aguero.

Our problem is, that our best striker, the Premier League's best striker, spends half his career in the treatment room & our main creator has an ongoing ankle problem. So long as that is the case, we have this situation, where we have to rely on players who are willing to be dropped as soon as those two are fully fit. You can now add DeBruyne to that, he is pretty much undroppable.

So obviously they won't be as good & we have to adapt.

This is another reason why it's important to find out which kids are capable of doing a job. They don't mind being benched when the time comes.

Performance not great but a vital point come the end of season reckoning hopefully. You can't adequately replace Aquero and Silva so they will be missed.
The main problem at present is YAYA and how to fit him in. Not really working as part of a two or a three at the moment and the option of the bench may have to be considered.Keep the faith.

Fine with a point before the game, fine with a point after the game. Excellent defensive performance generally and if we could have made better choices with our final ball this could have been a classic away performance. Unfortunately the usual quality was lacking from KDB and Raheem couldn't get a run on them. If only he could have finished when he came inside......Still, a point will do nicely and if it is in our interests to do the same elsewhere it is good to know that we are more than capable of producing a disciplined and controlled display

I can't understand why people aren't Satisfied with a point when we had Sergio and silva out and bony up top. we could still be playing now and he wouldn't have scored. it put us back to the top of the table which is what it's all about.

I actually thought it was refreshing to see a change of tact and pragmatism from Manuel, didn't know he had it in him.

Next big headache is what to do with Yaya, especially for those big games and CL fixtures.

100% agree with this. City City top of the League!!!

Another tough fixture gone, and another game nearer for Sergio and David to return!!

Pragmatism won the day, it's always good to beat them but it's much better to be in front of them
