The end of Dzeko

We'll buy some width in the summer, Dzeko will stay.

he'll be a 15-20 goals a season player.

You just described Spurs, run down the wings and aim for the head of the big bloke in the box.

What use would wingers be to short players like Aguero, Tevez, Nasri and Silva.

Personally I'd rather keep the style that has shown us some of the best City performances we've ever seen at the start of the season. As far as I see it the only player who hasn't adapted to our current system is Dzeko, he's too clumsy to keep up with the quick, short passing of the rest of the team.
He'd be great at Spurs but I can't see us changing our whole system just to suit 1 player.

I'm surprised people still believe that after two and half seasons without playing that way, Mancini is suddenly going to get wingers in to start whipping in crosses to a target man. Even if a Sanchez type player is brought in, I very much doubt that's how Mancini will use them.

I know what you mean, not saying it would dictate our style of play.

But the times we do play with width, and deliberately play using Dzeko as a target man.

We've done it so many times these season, he's had no service on crosses.

But the little he has had, the 6/7 headers have been goals and 2 using his feet.

he's got the ability on the floor, but he's used as a target man. i'd rather see him getting onto loose balls and playing more facing goal than back to goal.

That imo is why he hasn't had much going for him, can't recall him being infront of goal much since october time. He's been more of a target man or playing back to goal.

Having wingers in the team doesn't mean you need to have big players only to head them in.

Mario Gomez is big lad but he rarely scores with head and 99% of his goals are served by wingers.

Exactly. Even Barca occasionally uses wingers when the middle becomes too packed.

Doesn't mean we're mindlessly kicking the ball into the box, not with quality like Hazard.

Good point. Its not even just about their height, it's about the type of players they are. At most, only Tevez out of that list will be moved on, what use will wingers be to Silva, Nasri and Aguero? You also have to remember that they're already a significant part of how the team plays so they'll be starters more often than not. As far as i can gather, Mancini is building a team to play in a certain way and wingers are not a significant part of it else he would've probably kept Bellamy or SWP a bit longer or even used AJ more till he got in who he wanted, he hasn't. Of course, it's good to have that option but that's the most it will be, just an option.

Hang on, Dzeko was part of some of our best performances. He was unplayable away to Spurs, nearly scored a hat trick vs United away.

And that was all without these mythical wingers that everyone seems to be pining for on Bluemoon now.

It was but most of goals in those two most remarkable games of the season came from wings ;)

3 Dzeko's at WHL, Balotelli's 2nd and Aguero's at OT
