When I read a critique like that I do wonder - do you think he was lucky at Wolfsburg with his first touch, his work rate, his finishing, or do you think he's become a bad player overnight at City ?

It's certainly a mystery to me how a player so on top of his game can fall so far so quickly. His regression seems to have been Torres'esque.

confidence is a massive part of it, imo. whether your playing football, golf, tennis or any other sport. the lack of it can make the world best look like the worlds worst, whether its dzeko, torres, gary birtles or tiger woods

Exactly. People don't understand this part imo. It's easy to say that these are professionals so they should be motivated every game and so on..yet the best of them can go multiple games without scoring or performing well.

I think we'll see a change of teams for him but what worries me about City is the fact Tevez and Balo will ruin this team when it comes to a crucial game or maybe a time when Tevez feels like he no longer wants to play, wants to visit Argentina any time he wants and whatever else he can come up with(to me he seems like he's always above the team and that's going to bite us in the ass). With Balo i'm hoping he changes his antics but i doubt it will happen any time soon(young guy with too many issues).

One part that i can't understand (and i'm not even a huge Dzeko fan) is what fans on here want. Do you want a player who will get chances, work hard but not really get that many goals? or is the amount of goals at the end of the season the only thing that matters?...cause i've seen those types too (the ones who look technically good but still don't end up with many goals at the end)..Guess what? Since all of us want good results i think getting players who simply have good touches all the time but can't finish and end up with 10 goals instead of 20 will be a bigger dissapointed then those who get 20 but look crappy doing it...Wanting a Messi or another Aguero, RVP or whoever is just way too unrealistic imo and just won't be happening so that's more of a dream then anything.

imo dzeko isnt at his best with his back to goal, the ball tend to bounce away from him. but when given the ball in front he`s at his best. just need the service and a run to improve his confidence.

That's partly true although i've seen him look good in all kinds of situations(there were times when he would take a pass while being tightly covered and he would quickly turn and bulldoze his way through multiple defenders..The only thing i can come up with is the confidence factor. When he's on his game so much is working for him (headers, left foot, right foot, play making ability, speed and so on)..You don't lead Bundesliga multiple years by luck or being a one dimensional player.

The way he trudged off after the West Brom game, straight down the tunnel and looking pissed off would suggest the writings on the wall for him...

few articles i've read are suggesting that dzeko might be bought by bayern munich, but i don't see that happening. it's true that the football they're playing is perfectly suited for him, but mario gomez is already playing at that position and has already scored 40 goals in 46 appearances.

If City win the league very few will be wanting players to leave apart from the obvious-the likes of Bridge,Santa Cruz,Adebayor etc

If City dont win the league most on here will want around ten gone of the current squad(not including the players out on loan).

As for Dzeko I think he should stay. A plan B striker. One of the best target men around.

Dzeko doesn't need wingers, he didn't have them in Wolfsburg which played a diamond formation. However, they knew how to widen the field and didn't play so narrow. What is also the case is that he is not a good fit for is this short passing, slow build up system where you pass it around endlessly. He is used to much quicker development in the attack where he is targeted, can run onto balls facing the goal.

Have you watched us for the majority of this season? Particularly the last 2 games against Norwich and West Brom. When we are at our best we move the ball quickly. Yes it is with short passes, but it always baffles me why people see that as some kind of insult. It's 2012, the days of being successful with long balls are over. Possession is king.

Posssession IS king - as long as you do something with it - which for a long stretch of the season (prior to last few games) wasnt the case with us.

Reason why we got knocked out of CL and EL - pointless, futile possession and passing around the 30 yard line with no ideas going forward.

I think you will find that out of the 4 major leagues in Europe, only Madrid and Barcelona have scored more goals than us! We've scored 85 league goals FFS!

I whole heartidly, completely and utterly disagree. My first criticism is that he has the worst first touch in Europe. My second criticism is that he doesn't work hard enough. A player of his limited ability should make up for the short fall by working harder than all the other players.

Without question he is the laziest out of our 4 forwards. He never chases defenders down when they have the ball, and his movement when we have the ball is terrible.

When I read a critique like that I do wonder - do you think he was lucky at Wolfsburg with his first touch, his work rate, his finishing, or do you think he's become a bad player overnight at City ?

The only game I saw him for Wolfsburg was in the Champions League at Old Trafford. He'd been hyped up before the game and when I saw him I could not believe how shit his first touch was. I was hesitant when we bought him because of this, and I have seen nothing to suggest my initial reaction wasn't correct. Worst first touch I've seen in a top flight European league. With the possible exception of Pogrevniak.

Im grateful for what he did for us in the beginning of the season and last season, but he's no longer suited for us. We need the Aguero / Tevez type players, ones that can drop deep as well as play on the last man. Strikers that can dribble, create for themselves and others, not ones that need everything fed to them.

I think he's a quality ST but just not for how we play. At the rags he would bang goals in left right and center with the amount of crosses they get in. I would say the same about players like Cavani, he's a beast, but yet again he's not the type of player we need.

At times it feels like playing with a man less with those type of ST's as all they do is just wait for the ball to come to them, when teams play against us with everyone at the back players like that will always struggle, we need flexible players.

People are talking about his bad first touch (his 2nd touch is normally a tackle) but I don't rate him that good in the air too. Where City need to be going such as competing with the Bayern's, Barca's and Madrid's of this world we need world class strikers who can do everything brilliantly and I'm afraid Edin cannot.
