The End of on Street Parking within walking distance of the Etihad

I believes it's cos the Rags want to control outer perimeter match ticket checks.
Another example of Mcr's (no jokes) fucked up transport system.

Railways that are closed more than open, train operators that dont give a shit and just cancel services, shit Metrolink.
Piccadilly creaking at the seems yet the old terminus at Mayfield remains derelict.
A Railway that runs right past the Etihad but no consideration to reopening the viaduct that leaves the main line at Ardwick and a new station by the ground.

Manchester and it's leaders are a fucking joke.

Build all this accommodation in the city centre yet try to introduce clean air zone and have the shittest public transport network of any major city.
Andy Burnham is a total fraud. He’s an embarrassment to our city.

Andy Burnham and MCC are a bunch of dickheads, they think because there's a small, unreliable, very slow tram servicing less than 1% of the area of GM we should all be on public transport to and from every game.

We don't live in London.

Can expect £30 event day parking on the offsite car parks when the arena is up and running.
Just my tuppence worth on MCC and these new parking restrictions.
A few years ago, just before the council extended the parking restrictions further up Briscoe Lane, I had a meeting with my local Councillor - June Hitchen about local neighbourhood problems.
The meeting was held at one of her clinics in the community centre at the top end of Briscoe Lane, near to the Post Office.
After I had finished discussing my problems with her,I mentioned about the proposals to extend the no parking zone further up Briscoe Lane - upto where Briscoe Lane Primary School is situated.
I mentioned that I park my car on that part of Briscoe Lane (near to Ten Acres Lane) and that it would be a chore for me to park elsewhere.
Her reply was that MCC didn't like football fans, and they would do everything they could to discourage them from parking near to The Etihad.
And from next season,it looks like her words are going to really take effect in the areas around the ground.

When are these proposals due to be introduced?

If I use public transport getting to the game will take about the same amount of time as you have to arrive early now to park on Briscoe lane. However, after the game the walk to the car and drive home takes an hour and 15. If I’m at the mercy of the rail network then it’s going to be a minimum of two hours, possibly three
Or I increase my outlay by at least a tenner a game to park (£200 a season ish) but no doubt the car parks will put up their prices due to lack of on street parking

so if it’s from the start of next season, I’m not renewing

This might be the nail in the coffin for me too.

Only viable way for me to get there is to drive. If the clean air charges come in & I have to start paying to park also, on top of it costing about £80 a game for fuel, then I'll probably pack in our 3 season tickets and just do a few games a season.

the exodus at 80 mins
is gonna start at
70 mins latest.
But who can blame them?
People just don’t want or need the hassle.
Not when they have to pay the ticket prices that
we have these days. It’s got to the point that going
to the match is more trouble and expensive than
it’s worth nowadays. No surprise if people just
bin it off and watch it on TV.

Any chance of the club putting in an objection? Something Ci

They haven't said when, but technically they could bring in the new restrictions the day after the end of the consultation period which is on 16th March 2023, if they do not get any objections to the proposed scheme.

However after looking at the size of the scheme and the vast area it covers, its going to cost a small fortune to paint all the new parking bays and install the signage to enable enforcement of the new restrictions.

In all likely hood, the new parking scheme will be in operation at the start of 23/24 season.

But we need to remember the scheme is currently only a " proposal" at the moment, if the council receive no objections to the proposals they will just implement the new scheme. However if the council receive an high number of objections they will need to be able to justify the new restrictions. If anybody is effected by the new restrictions they can log a comment and object to the scheme via the council website, but this needs to be done before 16th March 2023.

follow the link to log your objections
