The End of on Street Parking within walking distance of the Etihad

Based on the North Stand expansion announced this morning, anyone, like me who spent time offering their views, will find it was the equivalent of pissing in the wind....

Usual council democracy at play. Be prepared to be paying £20 at one of the few sites offering parking once this comes in.

EASTLANDS RESIDENTS PARKING SCHEME

Manchester City Council is in the final stages of a legal consultation for the implementation of an expanded Residents Parking Scheme which will be in operation before Co-op Live holds its first event, and will ensure that local residents, businesses and their visitors can park at their homes and properties when events are taking place.
The scope of the Eastlands Residents Parking Scheme was planned from the outset to account for an expansion of the Etihad Stadium (planning application approved in 2014) as well as the Co-op Live arena and a wide range of other sporting, leisure and entertainment uses which may be developed at the Etihad Campus in the future.
Cheaper than 25 quid in a field by Bristol

Hey, leave our canals alone, yer vandal. But yer can still have yer rapid transit train built over the top of the canal. I think they have one, or had one, in Wuppertal. And don't New York have overhead 'subways'? I think some of that 'dodgy' money that the FA are looking at could be diverted!
Or dig deep enough down across several locks from Piccadilly to Etihad. 3 locks... and then add a set of locks after, whilst widening the basin by the athletic stadium... and ferry fans back and forwards. Probably not cheap but feasible, and with a monorail.

Speedy cycling tracks, held by rail overhead, could be jolly enough. Two or four seater pedal powered pods, allowing a constant circle on a route would work...

This is definitely the solution to getting off the Blue Car Park, especially if yer behind the steering wheel!

Would blue badge holders still be allowed to continue to park on residential streets ??
From the Manchester Council website.

With a Blue Badge you can:

• park for up to three hours on a single or double yellow line as long as there are no loading restrictions. The clock on the badge must be set to show your time of arrival.

• park - free of charge and without time limit - at any on-street pay and display parking bay or designated on-street accessible bay. You must display your Blue Badge (and the blue parking clock if the bay is time limited) See where disabled parking bays are in Manchester.

• park on resident parking permit bays without a time limit.

The badge can only be used where the holder is a passenger to or from the parking location.

Or build a really high slide from the top of the North Stand that arrives in Piccadilly Station.

Etihad are sponsors. Think they need some green friendly VSTOL in their fleet.

Looks like I’ll have to pry my dad and his blue badge out if the house fir match days im sure he will be warm with the heater on

More idiots like me on the blue car park then, like whacky fucking races trying to get off their at best of times
We always travel from Edinburgh and if we’re going straight back up the road, especially after mid week games when the kids will have school the next day we need to leave around 80 minute and sprint down to the blue car park so we can quickly get out before any queues start building.

Parked in a side street before behind the blue car park and ended up with a parking ticket

Think Metrolinks shuttling between ethihad and Piccadilly may help. No stopping - just three going there and back direct for an hour after the game.
