The fans let our team and manager down

I told the linesman to flag Agueros goal offside and the 5th official not to give Mario a pen.

As a fan it's my fault.

bad goat , naughty goat

Good post fellah. The truth is dortmund fans go for a good time, celtic to show the passion, City fans do and always have loved a fgood moan. It is up to any individual how they support the club. We have a great minority, who will and always have supported the club,in a positive manner but a majority who are miserable grey sods, City fans are excellent when winning.very quiet when behind. It is because the result is so vital to them, rather than the experience of the match .

These times may not last forever, but like health people cannot appreciate good times when they have them. I now ignore the moans next to me, wear ear plugs at home matches, and appreciate we are all different. My advice is support in your own way, and let them get on with being criitcal.

Great points, i guess i just get frustrated that they cant see the merits of supporting the team and how the overall experience for everyone would be better if we focus on the positives for 90 minutes.

No one would achieve anything if they focused on whats not good or what they cant do rather than what you can, but i guess i should be more accepting ut its difficult when you genuinely believe it is affecting what you see out on the pitch.

Ok so its the players jobs, they should always give 110 % etc, but how can you expect the players to care when the fans don't seem to?

I've said it before - and until someone vouches for him - I'll continue to believe it. The OP is a rag. The most cursory glance at his posting history shows that the overwhelmingly vast majority of posts are about us supporters and how bad we are. Rarely is he seen after a victory or when things are going well - and even if he is it's only to have a go at some section of our support. Very very dubious.

If that's the case Billy a quick cursory glance by him through your latest post history could suggest you yourself are on the wind up.

Look yourself I'd say out of the last 250-300 posts about 250 are about our managers failings in a round about way, most will be the just the same theme and no doubt you'll have been arguing the same points with the same posters that you have been doing for the past 2 seasons.

how about the club tried to squeeze every last penny out of already hard up fans, instead of making the prices competitive and filling the ground with passionate blues and creating a partizan atmosphere.

city are happy to try and fill the ground with anyone, which is fair enough, but when you are pricing your core support out, dont be suprised when the it comes back to bite you on your arse.

tuesday night was as flat as a pancake, more like a league cup game, something is missing from these nights.

for all the money in the game, surely the club acting in unison with the fans and filling the ground would be better for all concerned.

i dont advocate giving the tickets away, but when families are being asked to part with a ton on a midweek night, then it stands to reason loads are going to watch it on the box.
Give this man a biscuit! Spot on. I'm a pensioner and have supported City since 1953. It costs me (for me and the misses) about £150 per home game to attend (tickets, petrol, parking, programme, food & drink). I can't afford £150 per match but it's nice to know you and 40,000 others can. When I do attend (all EPL games = 303, S 54 & 55) I give 100% support. What is obvious to me, and has a bearing on the volume of noise in the stadium, is when City 'go for it', at a high tempo, the noise goes up in proportion to the effort. Draw your own conclusion.

Ha ha, brilliant, yes im a rag whos actually trying to encourage our fans to support the team more.

I just happen to think that if we can berate the players then occasionally we the fans should look in the mirror and realise that we are far from perfect in our support of the team. Why should the fans be beyond criticism, and yes, it is a particular irritation of mine about the lack of support we sometimes give the team.

You will also find im the rag that helped fellow supporters with fa cup semi tickets at face value and more recently west brom away.

Behave.

Its plain and simple .....

A lot of City fans arent ready for our success !

Its like we have a mentality that we should win every game and everything going from now on ! The reality is of course you have to earn the right to win ...... not just turn up both on and off the pitch . Both Dortmund and Ajax away fans have shown true passion at the Ethiad , its fuckin embarrassing to be brutally blunt . City fans have to play there part if we want continued success , ...... again look at the passion Madrid fans have , Barcelona. Even Celtic fans were truely fantastic and vociferous getting behind there teams bland but workaholic footballing style and of course it worked !

The naivety flying around our fans is truely astounding . Taggart and Stretford fans truely lapping it up in grand style and they won fuck all last season !!!!!

This. And I was there, and will do 5 of the 6 games in europe this season at great expense.

The atmosphere was flat because we were 2-0 down after 17 minutes, in a game we really had to win.

Doesn't help when about 25% of those there have little or no affiliation to the club, and aren't particularly interested in the game.

The thing is, just two seasons ago (2010-11) I thought our support was at its best since the season we won the second division (Div1 as it was) with Keegan when we had Benarbia Wanchope Goater Huckerbee and Berkovic.

But last season and especially the start of this season we've been dramatically quieter. In less than eighteen months we've changed.

It's just ridiculous to suggest the fans don't care. People show emotion in different ways. Its incredible that you believe the barometer for caring is as simplistic as joining in with chants. There are people sat around me aged in their 60s and 70s who have probably followed City 50 years or so. No they dont sing but I have no doubt they are as passionate as any 'real fan' who joins in with the odd song.

As for the moaners they react to the events on the field of play. Personally I dont want to be a german or dutch fan who jump up and down monotonously regardless of events on the pitch. I like to feel the emotion of the game and react accordingly. Give me the theatrics of an Italian crowd who show passion through enjoyment as well as displeasure than some happy clapper more interested in bouncing up and down than the events on the pitch.

Furthermore 40k is an excellent crowd for any game at the etihad. Historically our support is as large as any time in our history. Were in a recession, ticket prices are ridiculously as high as a proportion of income and the game is 7 weeks before christmas.

Maybe rather than berating people for moaning or being negative or not attending, you should see the positives attached to the club and support rather than criticise your fellow fans for not defining your idea of what makes the 'super fan'.

Just what is up with our support ?

We spent 44 years waiting for our club to battle it out in footballs elite competition, the Champions League, (or it's precursor the European Cup) and no sooner are we presented with the opportunity our fans treat the occasion with contempt, like its a game against Wigan in the premier league or carling cup.

We don't sell out, yet we can sell out a 3rd round cup tie against the rags in the FA Cup (You have to question therefore what motivates a proportion of our fans) for me Dortmund in the Champs league is a way bigger game.

Those that do turn up (some credit here) and then the atmosphere is as flat as a pancake with no passion for the team or the occasion. I'm sorry but 40,000 in a champs league game against Ajax is embarrassing.

Celtic showed what can happen with 'real' passionate support behind you that nothing is impossible. We, let our players and our team down.

We have one game against Real Madrid to turn our reputation around, albeit sadly I fear too late. We 'the fans' didn't turn up. If you're a regular who didn't go, but decided to watch it on the tele - hang your head in shame.

Its easy to come on here and slag this player or the manager - but just what did you do to help the team come through !? My guess is the majority moaning did absolutely jack sh*t.

I sing, every game, most of the time its wasted breath but I still turn up and sing. If you go to the game it's what you should do, it's about our reputation as fans and it's about helping OUR team get the outcome we want.

As I say, we have one last chance to show our players what pulling on the blue shirt in a champions league means to us - the fans. If you are a blue, be there, and GET BEHIND THE TEAM.

Blue army.

I take it that you are ;
a) In full time employment.
b) On a good salary.
c) Live with Mummy and Daddy and have no real outgoing financial constraints.
d) A millionaire Lottery winner.
e) A RAG on the WUM.

Seriously i appreciate financial constraints, genuinely do, and if thats why anyone cant go then how can i criticise that.

All i am pointing out is that when a game like the rags comes up or hamburg or the fa cup semi and final etc there appears to always be enough fans in our fanbase to snap all the tickets up

Real madrid will be a sell out im sure, but then dortmund and ajax were massive games but it didnt sell out. That tells me that there are fans who are choosing not to bother and i dont understand it.

That said, there are enough fans on here coming on after the game to criticise players for not performing.
