There is always a good deal to be found... not every club will rip us off, especially for lower profile players. Hamburg didn't rip us off for Kompany, Espanyol didn't rip us off for Zabaleta. But because our coaching staff is Italian and of course us being an English club, nearly all of our targets seem to come from the two leagues with the stingiest owners/negotiators in football - the Premier League and Serie A.

Both those deals were pre-takeover though, hence the reasonable transfer fees.

Boateng was a post-takeover buy from the Bundesliga and a reasonable transfer fee (we even made a profit after he didn't settle in here). There are teams in certain leagues that will always do business fairly and right now Spanish clubs are accepting some derisory offers for good players (£2million for Michu) because they are desperate to service their debts. Godin is up for sale at £8million for example, that's a fair price for a good defender. Not saying we should sign him but just an example of value in the market.

Re: (Sheikh Mansour) Stuff The Lot Of Them!

Prices will only go down once we have established ourselves and are in the position that players force through transfers to come.

Clubs we are buying off know we can afford that bit extra so push accordingly - the difference now is we shouldn't need ridiculous wages as players will come to win trophies

Why Always Ste said:
It's like shopping on the meat market, the trader see's someone walking up who looks poor, screams at the top of his lungs the latest deals... 5x steaks for £5, 5 steaks for £5

This wealthy looking businessman with the top hat walks towards him and he quietly whispers: we have some sublime steaks here, £5 for one.

Which means he thinks the businessman is a coont and the quality of his wares is questionable

I like the thinking but it will take everyone to be on the same page. If RM can start preaching the same message he'll get the benefit in years to come.

Re: (Sheikh Mansour) Stuff The Lot Of Them!

Sorry for swearing.(Ric and other forum members)

No seriously. It's time City stated enough is enough. I'm sure as a club we are willing to pay a fair price for any player. Every club knows a players value. City should be treated no differently than any other club enquiring about a player.

When the project began we paid over the odds for a reason.(including wages) That reason was accomplished last season.(and the previous two)

FA CUP.
CL.
PL title.

Now we are at a point where normality and common sense has to prevail regarding transfer fees and wages. As a business we must get our house in order, especially with FFPR looming large. It's the same for every other football club in Europe, so why should City be any different, or be treated any differently?

Yes I would like some new players, but I'm happy to go with what we have if we don't sign any new players before the transfer window closes.

Re: (Sheikh Mansour) Stuff The Lot Of Them!

What did you think when we were skint and Chelsea wanted SWP? Did you think we should milk them for every penny we could get?

Re: (Sheikh Mansour) Stuff The Lot Of Them!

The player is only worth what we are willing to pay and depends on why that player is needed.

Sinclair is being signed as a impact player allegedly and will not get into the first team on current form but may do in a couple of years so City feel he is worth £6.2mill and I agree with that valuation.

Hazard we bid £30mill because he would have been in the first team.

Tell Swansea to Jack off and look elsewhere, maybe Swansea will realise they are left with a player who doesn't want to be their and they pay his wages and he walks free when contract expires.

Of course he was over priced. £21mill.(?)

The difference being, Chelsea had already got to where we are now when they paid over the odds for SWP. We on the otherhand have been paying well over the odds for average players(RSC, Bridge, Ade, etc), so we could get to where we are now. Ah? :-?

We are now Champions. We now have one of the best teams/squads in Europe. We only need 1 or 2 additions to improve the team/squad. The problem is, those additions are costing more than they should do because of who we are, and our previous reputation in the transfer market.

Thankfully Mansour and City have drawn the line. Gone are the days when the club would pay over the odds for a player, and beheld to ransom by a selling club, the player, and/or his agent.

I'm not Mansour obviously, but I bet he has told Khaldoon, Marwwod, Mancini, etc, that the club must no longer pay inflated transfer fees and wages. When he speaks they listen. So will the other owners.
