51 thousand at Newcastle .you can here a pin drop .so it aint just us .remember the atmosphere was not always great at Maine Road .you need the players to excite the crowd.

Just sat there waiting for something to happen. No singing, no shouting and no passion. Plenty of moaning though. Where have all the really passionate city fans gone? We are a top club with an excellent fan base so ffs let's give it 100% support when inside the ground.
In terms of attendance the home support is fantastic especially because it cost so much to go to a game .the atmosphere might not always be great but it wasnt always great at Maine Road either

when you charge prices that demand a ROI so to speak, when you prevent people standing, prevent people drinking in their seats and those high prices attract an audience who aren't engaged in dancing around and sing-song, and pay the price to entertain guests, be associated with success and be entertained both on and off the pitch, then the atmosphere suffers.

Charge high prices, people expect value for money, so expect the team to deliver the goods. When the team then delivers a pile of shite home game after home game, expect the crowd to turn, simple as. You turn it into sports entertainment, expect a tough crowd.

Corporate fans, emphasis on families and it being and "experience" etc etc but i will say this, the team sets the pattern for the 90 mins and given yesterdays first 45 mins, its a miracle we didn't have a major emergency on our hands with 40 odd thousand people in comas at half time!

I think we can meet 'em halfway!

You can only play the GET BEHIND THE LADS card for so long.

1 win in 6 games, possibly our worst run since the Hughes era (and even then I'm not sure)

The atmosphere is rubbish because the team are playing rubbish.

What about when we won 9 in a row? Why was it god awful then?

Its the same every game..

Its not a coincidence that the away fans sing " is this a library " at every home game..

Its awful and its not giving the players a lift at all..

Perhaps if the players actually put in a bit of effort or attempt an attacking move rather than taking the safe option then it would encourage the fans to do the same.

If you really care about the atmosphere and want to change it, and have a season ticket or will do next season, then email membership1894group@yahoo.co.uk and move to the new singing block next year.

I love my seat and am friendly with the people around me, but hate the morose atmosphere and have decided to tear myself out of my comfort zone and relocate to try and help change. It's as simple as that... if you care, make a conscious choice and do something about it. It's the only way it will ever change.

A block in the South Stand that sings for the better part of 90 minutes could spread sideways through the stand and build a real atmosphere again. Or maybe it'll fail but not through the lack of effort. Our fans have become moody and expectant, United's home support makes more noise than us and they should be even more expectant after all the stuff they have won in the last 20 years.

I just don't buy into the "the football is shite so we don't make noise" mindset. I'd rather a mindset "the football is shite so let's get the stadium rocking to give the players some adrenaline". Players have said time and time again that the fans can help them - it isn't a myth!!

A guy behind us shouted "come back Stuart Pearce, all is forgiven"

That's just how fecking bored rigid our supporters are watching us play. We are boring to watch. All that money spent in the summer and it's like watching 10 men trying to run through treacle

HAHA got a mate (sorry aquaintance) who went against cambridge , and he reckoned there was less than 50,000 at the game , all the top tiers were empty , and this shithead has to register on blue moon to post this shite ,go and F*CK OFF , you part time plastic glory hunting scum

I tell you what. I guarantee that the next time I see City come out with all guns blazing, putting in an effort from the first second instead of giving us this lacklustre & uniterested first half shit we get served now the atmosphere WILL be already much better from the start.

And then, this:

and also, I don't think there are too many fans out there who can look in the mirror and honestly say he himself couldn't do more.

We played great football last season and the atmosphere still wasn't very good except for a few games. It's the 'sit and wait for a goal, moan if it takes too long' culture.

I know we are British and all that (well most of us), and we're all well reserved and proper like...........!!!, but why can't we all make a noise inside a stadium full of 40000 plus people. look around other foreign leagues, fans in stadiums well before kick off, not to see some pre match entertainment, but to show support and passion for their chosen team, who stands in unison, jumping up and down, singing the clubs anthem, Christ, our Blue Moon never gets going, we should all be on our feet, scarfs above our heads blasting it out. Atmospheres are created by fans in the main. I disagree with all this corporate, plastic, older fan, Show sec and split singing section tripe diminishing the passion we should show. I think we the fans need to take a good look at ourselves and open our mouths some more in unison, thereby making some bleeding noise. The players must think we have given up, and that can't be helpful for their confidence if the people who turn up to watch then sound and look uninterested...?!
