What could they have done differently?

Did you think they should have sat back and done nothing?

Also the British Army have killed a lot more innocent people.

Why did the IRA need to attack soft targets? Why the need to kill and maim innocent civilians going about their everyday business? It was Callous and indiscriminate! A bomb doesn't differentiate between Black or White or Catholic or Protestant.

The IRA could have taken the fight solely to the Army, but they chose not to, maybe because unarmed civilians can't shoot back?

If they'd took it straight to the army and wern't anonymous they would have just got arrested.

Remember they see it as their country and the Army as invaders/oppresors.

Again though the British army killed a lot more innocent civilians, the more you go back the worse it is. I don't think we're taught the truth in England, I know I wasn't in school, or haven't been by the media.

I do think they went too far at the end though and the guy showing the warringto picture, I could show pictures of 100s of innocent people killed by the british army, are they not as important in your eyes?

Omagh...............game over

Quick question; why do most of the people on this thread not care what happened in Ireland to thousands and thousands, over hundreds of years, at the hands of the British?

Mike, I think you will find the majority do care, just as anyone would do . The tough thing to stomach is the way the grudges have carried on for so very long and been dragged along over the years. If everyone had the attitude of the IRA the whole world would still be at war over some argument that nobody can really remember!
To justify the slaughter of innocents in a bomb because the British were not so good years ago is a little but much wouldn't you say?

Who on here has justified it????
the topic is about the IRA not Britain's involvement over hundreds of years. Someone thinks it's admirable and brave to plant bombs that kill kids.
No one has said Britain's misdemeanour's are admirable.

I'm gonna make this my last post on the subject.

What I would say is it's impossible to talk about the IRA without talking about Britians involvement over 100s of years as that's the only reason the ira exist. Britian brought the war to Ireland, the IRA of 1916 we're very honourable people in my opinion.

I think the pira did take it too far but with incidents such as bloody sunday happening in that era then to me it's no surprise.

Morally I would take the IRA's side apart from maybe the last few years of the pira, when like i've said, I feel they went too far, but remember while this was happening Irish people we're still under threat.

One of my best friends is an ulster protestant, I can also understand why they did what they did, to me the British government were the bad guys in the whole thing.

You can talk about the IRA without talking about the History of Ireland

You are again making moral equivalents, you are saying because of something we did in Ireland many years ago, it's perfectly acceptable to blow up innocent women and children.

I am of Jewish stock, should I go around blowing up parts of German Cities, because they murdered millions of my kin?

BigTony says yes but don't go too far. Though if you do he would still take your side, morally that is, as they did it first.

BigTony says as Ireland is still occupied because of how britain behaved in the past, its human nature that people will rebel, is it any wonder people rebelled after this happened.

That tells it like it is as far as I'm concerned.

A certain poster in this thread is a notorious rag WUM who has been outed on the main board several times by several people, but amazingly has still not been banned and continues to come on occasionally, stirring shit and then fucking off.
I believe this person is now doing the same in off topic.
Don't let this person wind you up, he's probably laughing about it with the genetic travesties over on Sad Cafe.
