You can be a good chancellor and not know the specific housing laws of specific council. Do you think the Health Minister knows everything about Transport as well ?

This isn't a trivial oversight under any circumstances and certainly not for someone who holds such an important position.

Her actions were either done with fraudulent intent or else she's so incompetent and irresponsible that she's utterly unfit for her position.

Having said that it will be a shame to see her go, I'm loving seeing this entire Labour cabinet demonstrate time and again how utterly corrupt, self serving and avaricious they all are.

So it’s incompetent to trust your lettings agent to do there job. Would the same apply to your solicitor ? Accountant ? Builder ? Window cleaner ?

The (re)rise of populism has certainly shaken things up. Historically populism has been associated with the right/highly conservative policies that ultimately end up benefitting the hyper rich but no one else. What you've got interestingly in the UK now is a party adopting something of a populist approach but from a progressive perspective and making it explicit that they will seek to rebalance wealth and equality. Be interesting to see how things play out, it doesn't take a huge leap of the imagination to see Reform and the Greens polling best over the next 12 months.

I think the Conservative party as we previously knew it is probably dead, either through remaining moribund or by becoming Conform. This really leaves the fate of the Labour party as the bigger unknown and I think it'll be a bit longer before that becomes clearer.

At first I thought, so what she forgot ! But then l checked it, it costs between £650.00 to £1,650,00 for a license in London. That changes it slightly if it was a flat or HMO it needs
a license

So elsewhere her story on Wednesday changed completely by Thursday.

We were digging in the bin for the Conservative Party, it only follows we dig deeper for the next occupants of Downing Street. It’s our money after all avoid paying for a licence or forget to pay and the price goes up for the other license payers.

The PM has written her a letter resolving the matter it is pathetic until you realise how much a license costs

That’s an irrelevance.

She told one story on Wednesday, that she was simply unaware of the requirement, and by yesterday afternoon the story changed to the complete opposite.

Given that the first story was conveyed in an official letter to the PM and his ethics advisor, do you not think Reeves should have ascertained the facts of the matter before making such a declaration?

Would a truly competent professional person in Reeves’ position be expected to make such an amateurish mistake, given the level of scrutiny placed on them? I think not.

I think this is the general issue, it’s chipping away at the credibility of this government. Once they row back on their manifesto commitments in the budget they’ll have none left. Now once the rubicon of tax rises has been crossed she may decide to keep increasing taxes in future budgets to become more socialist in nature to win back Labour voters who have been lured in to reform’s sphere.

She was told what it would cost somewhere round about £900, did she not wonder why that sum had not been taken from any of their bank accounts. Perhaps she is just not very good at financial matters.
