The Labour Government

She runs a hospital and sits on the board of many schools so why the sigh ?
She accidentally claimed a tenner for a couple of porno films that her husband watched that showed up on an itemised invoice for her Sky subscription.

There was also controversy around her second home claim although the investigation into it did not establish that it cost the taxpayer any extra.

All this was 15 years ago and dealt with at the time.

Population or households going up by 6000 a year? If population then two people living together = 3,000 homes required.

The bigger problem IMHO is private landlords buying the spare capacity. Building more houses isn’t going to stop that happening. I’d start by taxing this part of the sector more to make it less attractive - particularly those with say more than 3 houses.

That’s not to say that we don’t need more houses - we do.
I said and meant population.

How about giving private renters the right to buy at a discount?

It's funny, I keep hearing 'Labour doesn't represent the working class anymore' and 'we should have more working-class MPs' but when you get Angela Rayner as Deputy PM, people get upset because she hasn't got a degree and doesn't talk with a plum in her mouth.

Which way do you want it?

a) The working class is represented in parliament and government.

OR

b) Government by an elite who speak 'properly' and have all been to Oxbridge.

Because you can't have both.

'Boris', Rees-Mogg, Sunak, and dozens more. Highly educated (probably above their ability) and quite well-spoken (if you think RP is 'well-spoken) but all utterly clueless. BTW, speaking RP does not make you clever, any more than speaking Geordie or Brummie makes you thick.

Now, if you want to set up a sort of staff college for top politicians and civil servants after the French model, where these people are taught how to govern, you might have a case. But don't then moan about being ruled by an 'elite'.

People take the piss out of posh cunts all of the time, the working class can take it too can't they? Not everyone is taking the piss out of her though I suppose if you break it down both Moggy and her have the same amount of schtick for their accents and upbringing.

All I ask for is consistency.

Is it desirable to have working-class people in politics or is it not?

People seem to want it both ways.
The government is now made up of normal people who understand about paying bills and not having enough food to go around , the best balance of people you could ask for imo

Labour voters take the piss out of posh cunts and Tories take the piss out of commoners, sounds consistent to me.

I find it incomprehensible that a person having and proudly keeping their own accent is the reason you seem to feel she is not fit to represent us on the ‘world stage’.
I dont think Angela Rayner speaks particularly well imo, certainly nowhere near as well Starmer. Her choice of words at times has left a lot to be desired and isn't appropriate for a Secretary of State. We can only hope she learns.

As for whether she is intelligent enough for the job, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Although not essential, for most high profile jobs with lots of responsibility, it certainly helps to have a university education for the majority of people.
