Unfortunately it will all come down to how people feel. Do they feel better off, that public services are being fixed, that the country is on the right path.

This requires clear messaging and tangible improvements and thats more than just resolving pay disputes by throwing money at it. Waiting times in hospitals need to come down, care quality needs to improve, trains need to run on time etc and this needs to be a step change what is actually noticeable. This will take time, but 4.5yrs should be enough to see significant progress.

If not people in general will revert to form and just vote for whoever puts more money in their pockets regardless of the bigger picture. People have less patience than ever due to the general pace of modern life and asking people to wait another 10yrs for improvement after 14yrs of shite wont wash.

I sincerely hope that Labour can do it but its a massive task.

Labour are up against it in controlling the narrative as the media in this country has degenerated into an absolute shitshow, nonetheless they are absolutely useless at it to boot too. It's unfortunate that neither Starmer nor Reeves have oratory as one of their strengths but ignoring that, just things like to the strategy to use the specific 22billion number struck me as odd, both too easy to nit pick and too abstract at the same time.
