The Labour Party

You focus on the selective outrage aspect then.

I'll focus on the actual comments she's made.
Idiotic. I'm thinking the 'first draft' excuse is plausible because she left a huge gap inbetween the two paragraphs..... and has a track record of not being the sharpest tool in the box.
Worth noting that the 'comments' were a clumsy critique of an an article that claimed that all forms of racism can be reduced to personal abuse and dismissed claims of any idea of systemic, more insidious forms.
The point is the hypocrisy of the reaction.

That's a bit harsh for someone who went to Cambridge and was in the Civil Service fast track - suggesting she's academically clever. She was also a shadow minister under Miliband as well as Corbyn. I'm surprised to see you joining in with the general mocking of her intelligence.

But I'm not surprised you picked the flimsiest possible attack line:)
The general mocking comes from a perception that she is not the best communicator.... so no surprise that she failed to nail an attempt at a nuanced argument.
Again the selectiveness of the interventions tells you all you need to know.

Your argument seems to be that you're letting her off because you think she's a bit thick. Sharpest tool in the box doesn't mean you lack communication skills, it means you're not clever.

I think that's typical of the abuse she's had to put up with over the years, and suggested that I was surprised to see it from you, as someone who general would support her.

As for her letter - it may be a nuanced argument, but she could write a book in between those two paragraphs without it changing their meaning. I used to work in Hackney, and with many people who would know Diane, and the argument is very familiar.

So one minute I'm at fault for dismissing her as 'not the sharpest tool in the box'
..... and now I'm guilty of overlooking her evil machinations. Do you work at Labour HQ?

Maybe I'm not the sharpest tool in the box, because I don't have a clue what you mean :)

What evil machinations?

You hinted at a meaning and that people in Hackney would confirm it. Might be better if you expressed an opinion rather than this tedious nitpicking.
