Decent explanation and even though it leaves a sour taste, it’s an understandable position to take. Labour, if they get in, can either repeal the legislation or direct the police to not use it.

Again, something to attack them with.

Depends how much people are interested in preserving constitutional norms really. There’s plenty of conservative lords that would have agreed with them had they blocked it and wouldn’t have used this as justification for blocking primary legislation.

I get a lot of this is narrative driven and if they do ban them use of it when they do get in power then that’s absolutely a good thing but still, it didn’t sit comfortably with a lot of people for good reason (on all sides).

It would be nice if Parliament would return to letting people do what was right and not have it blow up in their faces.

Not sure, think we’ve got a (limited) window of opportunity the next couple of years for that to potentially happen.
