It wont always be the case, we on the left love an ideological fight, I happen to think that is a good thing. Its good for democracy and its a good way to explore idea's. I compare it to Conservatism where I believe the right is an ideological vacuum. I read one of there eminent idealogues Roger Scrutton's book on how to be a conservative and it is a barren wasteland of nonsense.Eloquent, certainly, concise, not.
Really enjoy your missives and always gives me food for thought. Shame you feel outside the party. I have differing views to you but you speak to the heart but my head says otherwise.
The Labour party is probably at its best when the heart and head meet, that involves unity though and sadly it appears that we old romantic Socialists are not right for the hard headed centrists in the party at the moment, but its not a case of never the twain shall meet, it is a case of finding a compromise that we can live with and support and then, only truly then can we get rid of this god awful fucking excuse of a Government.
