The Labour Party

Eloquent, certainly, concise, not.
Really enjoy your missives and always gives me food for thought. Shame you feel outside the party. I have differing views to you but you speak to the heart but my head says otherwise.
It wont always be the case, we on the left love an ideological fight, I happen to think that is a good thing. Its good for democracy and its a good way to explore idea's. I compare it to Conservatism where I believe the right is an ideological vacuum. I read one of there eminent idealogues Roger Scrutton's book on how to be a conservative and it is a barren wasteland of nonsense.

The Labour party is probably at its best when the heart and head meet, that involves unity though and sadly it appears that we old romantic Socialists are not right for the hard headed centrists in the party at the moment, but its not a case of never the twain shall meet, it is a case of finding a compromise that we can live with and support and then, only truly then can we get rid of this god awful fucking excuse of a Government.

I've just read a funny article in The Spectator about the Zoom launch of Jeremy Corbyn's Project For Peace & Justice. The speakers were introduced by Baroness Blower (what an incredible title) who was formerly known as Christine Blower of the NUT.

I Googled her to find out a bit more about what she's doing these days and one of her gigs is being Vice President of The Movement for the Abolition of War. It's all very laudable but I'm struggling to think of a more pointless talking shop. Even Stop The War {insert name of war as required} seems reasonable in comparison. Can any suggest a more ridiculous organisation?

I find it funny you reference the spectator and then ask about ridiculous organisations.

Not sure what this new focus/campaign group has to do with a thread on the labour party though, it isn't an affiliate and it's spokeperaon isn't a member of the party.

The Project for Peace & Justice has been set up by the former Labour leader, who whilst not having the Parliamentary whip currently has been readmitted to the Labour Party. Baroness Blower is a Labour life peer & current Labour MPs spoke at the launch. Baroness Blower is the Vice President of the organisation I referenced so put all of that together and I'd say that her support of both that and Corbyn's madcap setup is more than enough to put it in the Labour thread rather than create a new one.

To answer my own question in my original post, probably the Project for Peace & Justice is more ridiculous than The Movement for the Abolition of War.

There's already a thread.

There's already a thread.
Didn't see that as a option when I searched but it can go there then!

I am not blaming you specifically but the anti Tory sentiment spreads all over the place, into even normal off topic. Last week the US political threads and situation were being used.

As soon as something negative is said about the left, posters mobilise and are sticklers for keeping to the exact thread.

It’s a funny place, Bluemoon.

But there is an exact thread. I wonder what he searched for if he couldn't see it. If it was in context or in response in certain remarks it might be appropriate but it wasn't.

The Conservative party is in government so it is natural that they come up in discussions on the covid thread etc, or as a brief comparison to other parties or individuals. It wouldn't be appropriate to start out of context starmer bashing in the peace and justice thread.

Of course, very convenient

Fortunately, this forum being a Momentum stronghold has no bearing on the real world. Wherever my comment ends up the point is that there is a substantial minority of absolute nutters within the Labour Party as exemplified by the Corbyn disciples rallying round his Project for Peace & Justice. You could just classify Baroness Blower as a harmless nutter with her support for The Movement for the Abolition of War but her support for the pernicious Corbyn suggests otherwise.

I have never been a member of momentum or the labour party. Why not just post your nonsense in the relevant thread if you want a discussion about it?

Wasn't having a go, just I knew there was a thread already, and bringing corbyn, who really has no influence in labour anymore into any labour or starmer thread just starts off the usual 10 pages of useless coments and repeated arguements, that was all.

If honest bored of the man, he is irrelevent to parliamentry politcs.

I have no interest in his new project either.

And what is wrong with anti-tory sentiment.

Anyone who doesn't like it has a right to reply. As you frequently do yourself.

And you think saying that the comment didn't belong in this thread is anti-tory and having a go at someone making anti-left post??

No just pointing out the banality of poluting threads with corbyn, a man who is unimportant and quite tiresome a fellow.
