The Manchester Evening News

As a resident of Bournemouth, I don’t tend to follow the MEN, but after the last couple of weeks I was somewhat shocked how anti-City the local rag is these days. They seem to be so biased towards the Salford team. Do they really seem to want to alienate a huge proportion of their potential readers? Mods might wish to transfer this to the media thread, but I think this deserves a discussion of it’s own.
these days?

nothing new at all.

some of us on here cut our teeth in the muen comments section 15-20 years ago because it was so biased against city.
it was great fun at the time.

MUEN, written for Rags by Rags and has been for years.
I wouldn't wipe my arse on the printed version and won't click on anything posted on line.
The sooner this shitstain of a publication goes under the better.
I interviewed the editor of the MEN around 1993 for the fanzine "This Charming Fan", mainly complaining about the paper's bias against City and being pro Rag.
His name was Michael Unger and he laughed when I pointed out to him his initials were MU. The heading to the article was ''Don't Look Back In Unger'' - this was published way before Oasis took the name of the film and turned it into a big hit.

True. The bias goes all the way back to the 60s from what I've heard. I remember those comments pages and all the rags saying we'd never overtake them. Daft cunts they're a fucking embarrassment now and should drop Manchester from their name. Cunts.

There is no need to read any articles other than those written by Simon Bajkowski.

I'm shocked that newspapers are still a thing these days. The only one i ever bought was the Pink back in the day.
