Actually, my question was a sincere one. I genuinely don't know how your stadium was paid for. Pray tell.

It is compared to metro link.

Walk it then ...............it's the first year so give it time.

I'd have thought justified criticism of metro link would be non controversial and likely provoke similar sentiments from equally frustrated City fans but it seems to me that at least insofar as you are concerned you feel the need to support it despite its obvious inadequacy - I don't seem why it's a badge of honour for City fans to support metro link just because a Gooner decides to criticise it. I'll write to Metro Link suggesting they seek some operational advice on running a public transport system from their big brother TFL.
Why act like a condescending prick?
There's no need

Before we tell, you, and we will, why don't you tell us who you think paid for our stadium?

I am specifically calling you out on this because many Arsenal fans think that City has been given a new stadium at taxpayer's expense which is simply not true.

So tell me, who do YOU think paid for our stadium?

Actually, my question was a sincere one. I genuinely don't know how your stadium was paid for. Pray tell.

The tube is miles better than the tram, Walking or the bus is quicker than queueing. Arsenal have cancelled a game due to the tube strike, were as city game could easily go ahead without public transport offered.

The stadium was a swap deal for Maine Road plus cash to redevelop the stadium from the 2002 Games (which had 2 tiers and 2 temporary stands), plus a contribution to the council for seats sold above the Maine Road capacity 34,500 ish, I believe the latter clause may have been bought out.

Block 124 is he West Stand for home fans, probably 114 is meant.

TfL are no better. Every bus from Muswell Hill down to London Bridge one weekend was the same chorus - You are on the 43 service to London Bridge. This service terminates at London Bridge. The next stop is Archway. And so it went on until we were halfway there and we get This is the 43 service which is terminating at Highgate and Islington (or where TF it was) everbody off the fackin' bas!

And those bastards nicked £2-50 off me Oyster Card. They can swallow any amount to top up but they can't give yer back a refund! What a fuckin' system! I've got to phone 'em up, nominate some fuckin' station and I get 24hrs to grab it.

The difference is that our billionaire owner doesn't put his money into the club. Even if he did, he'd be a relative pauper compared to Sheik Mansour.

We can't afford to pay players £200k a week. We have had to finance a new stadium. Who paid for yours? Our net spending on players over the past 8 years has been minimal. You get hit by the big money stick? Diddums. We don't have your cash and we get hit by the no trophies won stick. So what. Support your team and move on.

Before we tell, you, and we will, why don't you tell us who you think paid for our stadium?

.

Genuine question? My apologies, I had assumed you to be making a snide little dig founded on complete ignorance.

The answer is, the people of Manchester paid for it.

You will know that the stadium was the venue for the commonwealth games in 2002. An integral part of the bid that brought the games to Manchester was City's agreement to give up Maine Road and relocate to the City of Manchester Stadium after the games. Without that agreement, by the way, Manchester - nay Britain - would not have had its first world class velodrome (you may have noticed that Britain has done quite well in Cycling events since the Manchester velodrome was opened) and the people of Manchester have a 50 metre swimming pool into the bargain.

Stony has already made the point that City had to fund the conversion of the ground from its athletics use to a football use. That was no small undertaking. You may have wondered why there was a running track around a two tier stadium in 2002 and now there is no running track in our three tier stadium. The answer is because a huge quantity of soil was excavated so when you enter the stadium at ground level, you are at the top of the first tier of the stand. The pitch is probably thirty feet below you.

The deal thereafter was that City get the gate money for the first 33,000 (the old attendance at Maine Road) and the rest of the gate money is split 50-50 with the local council. There was a large element of Sport England funding in the initial construction costs of the ground, which IIRC was lottery funded rather than taxpayer funded, so the money which Manchester City Council used to build the ground is partly public in its origin, but was provided to the City Council to enable the Commonwealth games project to go ahead? Which it did and was a great success as you may remember.

That investment into that part of East Manchester has in fact proved to be the springboard for a great deal of regeneration in what was previously a rather derelict area. ultimately as I say the ground is owned and was paid for by the City of Manchester. MCFC is its tenant.

PS, don't mind the mods, they've all got hangovers today :)

I don't believe it - our transport system is better than yours!!!
I wonder which one cost more?

You offered exactly that sum to Robin van Persie to try and persuade him to stay, he still turned you down, so please, stop with your fucking lies.
We can ,get over it and if we really want we can buy the stadium out of loose change. Our owners are filthy fuckin rich and we are shit hot.

I wish we had Arsenal's class
