The Nigel De Jong Appreciation thread

How do you qoute six pages of well written posts all thinking the same as I am?

Really strange decision by the Club. The guy is a great player and a valued member of the best City side in my lifetime.

I will miss him, seems like a great guy and always gave his all.

I'm sure I'm just repeating what has already been said though.

Gutted, right at this moment I really can't be arsed with football, if he ever returns hopefully he'll get a great ovation, thanks for everything Nige and all the best.

It was always comforting to know that De Jong was in the team, you knew that they'd have to work bloody hard to get past him in midfield....feel a bit sad about this news.

I hope this means De Rossi is on his way tomorrow. Otherwise, what a shite state of affairs this transfer window has been!

Don't think that'll be an issue.

We must have a replacement lined up.

This because if we havent then either Mancini has gone mad, the owners are fucked off with something or Marwood is just completely inept.

It is just madness and our transfer window has been a fucking shambles if we dont bring in a quality midfielder.

Where is the sense in not paying someone a few grand extra a week and keeping hold of a very experienced and useful player but then take a risk on Rodwell who wasnt even getting in Evertons team. They hardly put up much of a fight to keep him or shaft us which is very uneverton like!

Imagine Yaya gets injured and we have a midfield consisting of two or all three of Barry, Rodwell and Milner for Madrid at home....I think everyone would be able to guess the outcome of that.

I'm amazed that the club is prepared to let him go. A fantastic servent to the club and has been a rock in times of troubles. Thank you for the memories Nige

possibly the biggest ever transfer mistake city have ever made.

What the fuck are you talking about? He hardly ever played for us last season.

Kind of wish we drew Milan now, purely to give Nigel a great reception on his return, it will happen one day and he will be truly deserving. Great servant and two very memorable goals, both of which I was there to witness.

He doesn't even have to be injured for us to have that midfield as a certainty soon. Yaya is off the the African Nations in January so it'll be up to those three to carry the team in one of the most testing periods in the calendar.

OH WHEN DE JONG, GOES SLIDING IN, OH WHEN DE JONG GOES SLIDING IN, YOUR GONNA BE ON A STRECHER, OH WHEN DE JONG GOES SLIDING IN.

gonna miss watching him, great player and one of my favourite players :( good luck big man

i'll be baffled if DeJong does go. Can't see how losing one of our main central midfielders a day before the transfer window shuts helps us out in any way. No replacement yet signed and Yaya goes to the African Cup of Nations in January?!?! We need to be adding to the squad and not depleting it

Have to agree Bill.

What a fucking clanger. We sign Richard Wright and an average clogger in Sinclair and get rid of De Jong.

I am absolutely devastated. A player who put his heart and soul in everything and we get rid like that.

Disgusting.

Totally agree, de Jong a class act. Massive mistake

£3.5 Million, if that is true whoever sanctioned that needs their bollocks removing.

A Fine servant to our club and will be held in the highest regard for some time to come, I remember he received a standing ovation after his first appearance for the club it would be nice if he could appear at our next home game for one more.

Thanks and good luck Nigel, you will be missed.

class act^, battler and most importantly winner. You can never have to many guys with a winners mentality around the club. Mancini will be kicking himself on this one

Feel sick.

True legend in my eyes.

3.5 m is disgusting.

Whoever wouldn't pay the extra 20 k a week is so, so, so, wrong.

Goodbye Nigel, will miss you a lot.

One of my favourite players. Really surprised Mancini wants to let him go, he would've provided some much needed experience in the champs league games. Anyway thanks Nigel you've been a fabulous player for us and we're forever grateful for helping us win the title.
