The Nigel De Jong Appreciation thread

Not surprising. Saw it coming 2 years ago. He was a key player once. And I am happy for him.

But not surprised at all. He didn't fit our style and Rodwell is simply a more complete footballer.

The moment Rodwell started after signing 2 or 3 days earlier, I sensed Nigel was probably a goner.

I hope we get to play Milan soon, not only will we inevitably seen him bag a goal but he'll get one hell of a reception. Until he scores that goal, that is.

if NDJ goes we better have someone better lined up Rodwell is not ready
otherwise we are not strengthening the squad

It's absolutely criminal that Mancini wasn't sacked after his tactics last year, but someone really needs to take hold of the clueless prick and drag him away from the club before he does anymore damage.
fuck off Hughes lol

What a poor decision that I can only believe the club will regret. Never once did I come away thinking he hadn't given us his all. Met him with the kids a few times and he's a very articulate, interesting, intelligent character. Sad day. Good luck Nigel

Good luck to him, was a great player for City, always gave 100%.

I think he loved to play here but he will be a starter at Milan that's not a bad thing for him.

The fee we get is very low he is not 31-32 years old he will be 28 in the next few months. He has still 3-4 very good years.

I'm amazed that the club is prepared to let him go. A fantastic servent to the club and has been a rock in times of troubles. Thank you for the memories Nige

possibly the biggest ever transfer mistake city have ever made.

You are 100% correct with this comment

Not really.

Barnes and Owen pisses all over this ( if it happens!)

A complete shambles. Mancini has cocked this up, big time. I was expecting Nigel to be our next Vieira and help with coaching and team morale. A true gentleman.

Wish Nige all the best if he goes, the management has spent the last 12 months trying to convince him to become a squad player and he doesn't want that, but you can't blame Mancini as they won the league utilising him as a squad player, so it looks like an amicable decision has been reached on both sides

Don't normally do these, but what the hell.

Thanks for everything Nige. You always gave 101% for the club, the fans, and the shirt.

You will be missed.

Sad to see him go, good luck Nige!

If Garcia comes in to replace him I won't be happy. It's only De Rossi now which would soften the blow and the only move which would improve our squad with Nigel's imminent departure. City kept the signings of Sinclair and Rodwell under the radar let's hope something big comes off.
