the UK’s contribution to Eurovision specifically is less than the cost of a single episode of Holby City, it was in the BBC’s annual report a few years ago.

The U.K. does contribute a fair amount to the European Broadcasting Union but that’s based on the size of the market. We lean heavily on the EBU at events like the Olympics, it saves us (and every other member) sending hundreds of staff to cover it, we just use the EBU’s pictures and shared facilities and it saves a fortune.

The main reason we struggle for points was captured perfectly by Amanda Holden appearing in front of hundreds of performers and presenters that are using 3/4/5 languages interchangeably shrieking that she can’t tell the difference between Dutch and French like the racist bridesmaid at the worst hen party in the world.

She was pretty bad, complete fake person, but probably got a nice slice of cash for that 3 minutes of embarrassment so thats OK.

The Europeans don't like us despite the fact we pay huge amounts of money to keep Eurovision going.

The first time ive watched it for longer than 10 minutes,and i enjoyed it.There were some decent entries and some lovely sights.....Political or otherwise,the UK effort was beyond shite and it was fully deserving of 0 points.
