The UK haven't had a half decent song in God knows how long though

The process to be the UKs act was a Saturday night, cringe-worthy, game show format until they adopted the process of simply having the BBC pick some unknown person at random pretty much.

Italy hold a competition that genuinely rivals Eurovision as a whole for example.

If the UK took it seriously, the voting would reflect that but they seem happy with the 'Father Ted' approach of throwing it away on purpose.

The problem (if you give a shit about these things) is that no decent artist in the UK needs Eurovision for publicity. We've got the best music industry on the continent, so if you're a talented singer-songwriter, why would you enter a competition that guarantees you'll be forgotten a year later, when you could just release it through the traditional channels, and make far more money than anyone on Eurovision will ever get? Whereas if you're from Azerbaijan or Moldova, this might be your only chance to make a name outside your own country.

Yes. The SNP have in the past tried to get a spot for Scotland but have been told to fuck off because they are represented by UK and BBC has a spot on the European Broadcasting Union.

The Europeans don't like us despite the fact we pay huge amounts of money to keep Eurovision going.

Even if we have a half decent song it gets no where fuck them.

If we sent Rag ‘n’ Bone man next year we would win by a landslide. We just keep sending average acts singing average songs. And that is being kind.
