No one I know thinks the munich chants are funny but evryone I know, City fan or not find the Ade song amusing. And I am in the majority I would say. You only have to go to the game to hear the song being sung by the majority to see that.

It does make me uncomfortable.

But regardless, if some people find it offensive, whether you do or not, then surely its common courtesy and common decency not to sing it in that case?

I fully appreciate that some don't see a problem and say that they have the right to say so, but as above, if someone else objects then its only right to stop it and sing something else. Its not like its even amusing anyway.

I was there yesterday, and while many fans were singing it quite a few were not. And those who were are 'knuckle druggers.'

Oh yes he is!

...and the song is not racist but just stereotypical! if it was racist, firstly I would have to a) report you to the nearest bobby b) then have you removed from the ground by the bobby as racism is an arrestable offence to which stewards and police will not even give you a warning for at COMS - you will be arrested and banned!

I put this in the other Adebayor song thread but I can't be bothered to type it out again. So here goes:

Of course it's racist. The 'black men have larger penises' thing is a key part of the longstanding tradition of the animalisation of black males by whites. All negative stereotypes of black men fit into this idea, and the penis size myth is a central part of it. And the animalisation story exists, of course, to dehumanise black people and justify crimes against them.

What's wrong with 'Adebayor, Adebayor, give him the ball and he will score'?

as i said before......i'm under the impression this was started by black men and sung about/rapped about by black men for at least 3 decades, as a put down towards non-blacks

which doesnt make it right or wrong; its just my take on the matter

So we know different people don't we? Still hear the Ade song sung at the match though.

Thats cool, obviously the Munich songs are offensive to some and not to others. Same thing with the Adebayor song. Thats the point im trying to put to you. Just cos you dont think its offensive doesnt mean others dont.
