The PGMOL Apologies Thread

I know. I’m talking about a referee in the 90s who upset Ferguson and he said publicly that he never wants him doing a United game again. And they obliged and didn’t give him another United game for years.
Webb is a self confest, shirt wearing rag, former police constable, former referee and social friend of Bacon Face.

Are you trying to imply that he is anything but strictly impartial, with no skin in the game ?

Shocked I tell thee,shocked !!

VAR is a review system. And it still gets it wrong. Why would it be any different if the manager instigated the review? It'd just be the same "yeah, we've checked and it's not a penalty."
Sorry I mean make the ref go to the screen and via microphone explain the decision taken and why. They certainly wouldn't have had a case to deny wolves a penalty on Monday if they had.

It really would be that simple.

I don’t know mate. Some weirdo told me that those pictures of Webb reffing at Old Trafford in a United shirt were made up on the internet, so I don’t know what to believe anymore.

What puzzles me is what type of person wants to be a ref ?
I known the game needs them !
You make a mistake which that's face it, it should be getting hard to make with VAR.
VAR I thought was to cover their backs to help the refs but it isnt.
Rashford against us the ref over ruled a world cup final linesman and VAR. It has to go down as one of the most corrupt decision ever.
Yet that ref couldnt careless never got dropped, never had to explain his decision, his decision could have cost City the league.

I get the feeling these refs are little people and this power goes to their heads. They are jealous that they werent good enough to play football at any level.
I would say those who couldn't cut it at football as they would have a greater understanding of the game if they did.

I think Referees bottle out of some decisions knowing they have VAR behind them who they can pass the buck to.
Everyone is rightly saying VAR got it wrong but the ref should have given it anyway.
So now its not Hoopers mistake it is VARs.
I remember Clattenburg, after he retired, saying that he knowingly gave a wrong decision Uniteds way as he was scared of Roy Keane. He said he gave a corner when it was a goal kick but looking at his and other officials performances over the years i bet this was more widespread than just 1 corner.
Agree with what you say re refs leaving it to Var and too many officials have no backbone.
Its why they brought in these hew rules, so its easier for them to just wave a card like the Wolves manager received rather than look at why he was so upset

Apologies.

It should have been the GPC banned.

What company is going to take that job then? "Come and regulate our game and if you make a mistake, we'll fine you millions." Yeah, no thanks.
An awful lot of companies would take the job on, there is a lot of money to be made, with the only drawback being a dreadful mistake otherwise known as cheating, VAR is 98% accurate if the parameters are workable, ie tight off sides are not workable nor even wanted, as you do not know when the ball was kicked, or even what is defined as kicked, but that is what PGMOL chose to highlight in their use, a smokescreen to divert their miss use of the need for VAR

That’s actually Webbs response….

“If there's a decision you're not sure about, everyone would be impacted by the Old Trafford crowd and the fact it's Manchester United.”

Imagine saying that as the head of all the referees to ensure impartiality. It’s your fucking job not to be impacted by the team & ground.

He should be sacked on the spot for that comment alone.
Ha Ha that is nowt his quote at not sending De Jong off in a world cup final was ` I did not want to spoil the spectacle` otherwise known as cheating
