What a shame for Mas, and possibly Carapaz.
In terms if Pogacar and wrt his rivals, I think you are unduly pessimistic.I'd rather Pogacar won but the crash & injury and the way Vingegaard has been riding recently means I can only see one winner.
I have the horrible thought that he may do it comparatively easily too. Hope not though as a real battle in the mountains is amazing to watch.
Would love Cav to get that one more win but not sure it's going to happen. Maybe he can try something different & unexpected and get in a breakaway on a suitable stage.
Nobody was going to help him, fair does to the winner.Wow, what a final! Well, well deserved. Wout was gutted on the line there.
It’s always brilliant to see a rider show the courage to go solo from some way out like that and hold off the pack. They get caught 95% of the time, but not today :-)Nobody was going to help him, fair does to the winner.
I thought Vingegard might have helped him, but no idea what would have been said on the radio.Nobody was going to help him, fair does to the winner.
Not a chance he’d have helped. He has one target and one target alone: win the Tour. And not spend one kilowatt more than he has to on anything else.I thought Vingegard might have helped him, but no idea what would have been said on the radio.
Yes I get that, it’s just that van Aert will spend three weeks doing everything he can to help Vingegard to win the tour. Just the way it is.Not a chance he’d have helped. He has one target and one target alone: win the Tour. And not spend one kilowatt more than he has to on anything else.
Yep. Van Aert also had to close down a lot today.Yes I get that, it’s just that van Aert will spend three weeks doing everything he can to help Vingegard to win the tour. Just the way it is.
I respect his talent, but I must admit I tend to root for MVP these days when they have a head to head in one day races.Funny how Pogacar takes the piss out of VanAert’s handlebar slam whilst he was on the warm-down bike. Get the feeling that VanAert isn’t too popular amongst the peloton or even amongst his team. Maybe I’m off the mark a bit but having watched the excellent TdF Unchained series on Netflix he gives me the impression that it’s all about him.
I have to agree he has Wout to thank for last years TDF win. It wouldn’t have killed him to do a short turn in the run in out of respect for the work Wout has done for him, even if they were saying different on the radio.I thought Vingegard might have helped him, but no idea what would have been said on the radio.
Fortunately I think they were riding tubeless tyres so could carry on.Reading some of the rides had punctures due to tacks being on the road.
I was expecting something like that once the race got to France
