The Squad planning thread

Desperate for a big physical bastard in midfield. An iron fist in a silk glove type. Pace in defence and cover for Haaland.

I watched a lad playing for Monaco in Central midfield last week who is 20 years old and looked absolutely top class called Lamine Camara, get him in. Will be having a good scout of this Sporting striker on Tuesday as his stats are excellent. Defender someone like Van de Ven would be perfect but not sure how obtainable he is. I was impressed by a lad from Zagreb in the CL last year against us who seemed comfortable across the whole backline and rapid. Either of Inters full backs would be nice. Wirtz or Simons to replace Kev, both would be the dream. Going to be a big Summer.

It’s crazy to think that the club thought Gundogan and Savinho was enough. What would have happened if Gundogan wasn’t available? Would they of got nobody? If so that’s very worrying. I’m going to be called a rag or whatever but I can’t imagine that the 115 case hasn’t affected the club in terms of squad planning. We’re told we earn all this money, the most success in England for the last 2 years but we get outspent by Ipswich when there’s blatant question marks in the team.

Bobb will bolster our attacking options but I fear Rodri’s absence is going to hurt us in the title race.

We have one of the oldest squads in the league so it’s important we bring some young blood in.

A right back and two midfielders should be the priority.

We have 2 RBs loaned out to Champions League clubs? Not sure why one wasn't kept around

Bobb is promising but he is unproven week in week out . I think a lack of physicality might restrict him.

Yeah gave out Couto who was doing very well for Girona and also made it into the Brazil XI. I didn’t get it. Guess they was hoping for one more season for Walker. But honestly we need 2 RB not just one. Lewis is more of a CM.

neither can play CB or CM, which is how the RB is utilised depending on Rico or Akanji/Walker

You've kinda made the argument yourself. We play differently depending on who is playing RB.. So Pep, as he always has, could adapt slightly to have an attacking rightback. Our set-up isn't rigid and never has been.

What’s even funnier is that every summer the club briefs that we’ve got this warchest to spend and then we pretty much spend what we bring in with sales if that . 100 percent they are not spending because of 115 imo

they spent 80m on gvardiol during the charges so im going to say that they think the squad is fine rather than the charges but maybe im wrong. they also put in a cheeky 80m (?) bid for rice.

He isn't/wasn't going to change hence they were let go. He's seems completely married to this 316 or 3241 for now. He kinda used gvardiol as the wide player end of last season to get Foden in the middle but not since then. He felt neither was needed which i kinda agree with even not being a fan of this 316 thing

Players we need to cycle out:

- Stones (love him but too injury prone and doubt that improves now he's 30)
- Ake (love him as well but too injury prone and will be 30 in February.)
- Walker (34 and in a decline)
- Bernardo (love him but playing 7 straight years of 50+ games has left him physically drained)
- Grealish (love the lad but the next evolution of city wing play need Doku, Savio and Bobb as the main pieces)

Maybe:

- Kev (arguably our best player but becoming more injury prone with long term muscular injuries)
- Gundo (age has caught up and his legs are just not there. Might keep him around on a limited role basis for leadership)
- Kova (hard worker and been a productive player but we need youth, energy and legs in the midfield)

Out: Gundogan - Walker - Kovacic - Nunes
In: Musiala - Wirtz - A.Davies
Move Gvardiol to central defender

Bernardo is a god but his usual eye of the tiger is more like a glass eye this season.

I never feel comfortable naming players that should leave but…

Out in the next couple of seasons…
First batch… Walker, gundo
Next batch… de bruyne, kova, stones

In asap…
A right sided gvardiol type
A box to box dm
A box to box playmaker
