What's the likelihood of this actually going through and happening vs PL and UEFA call there bluff?

You become historical powers over time. After two decades of being run well and with good seasons, Leicester can be one of those clubs. Leicester are a one club city with very few big clubs around their catchment areas, West Ham easily could become another City as they have a huge support.

Arsenal are going one way... they’re poorly run. They are the epitome of a mediocre modern football club, and after a few decades as such, their elite years will be an afterthought.

That’s the good thing about football.
Would like this, but Liverpool were cack for 30 years, Tottenham have won nothing for 40 years, success is but one route to relevance.

It will never happen of course but if ever there was a time for City to make a stand, this is it. I wold love us to come out with a statement like this:

”Manchester City have been contacted about these new proposals and entered into a dialogue with other clubs. We wish to make it clear that we will never enter into an agreement on changes to the people’s game that seek to replace or reduce the meritocratic nature of football, under any circumstances.
The history of our club is that of all clubs. We are only as strong as our league’s weakest member.
Manchester City believes that each club starts each new season on an equal footing and we will never seek to reduce this fact.
The club believes success on the pitch should be as a result of application on the pitch and wishes to publicly remove itself from any changes to the game that seek to replace this ethos and replace it with one where success on the pitch is in any way linked to other factors off the pitch”

The new league represents the American takeover of elite European football, which will become a closed shop run by its founder members. It is bankrolled by US banking giant JP Morgan and is the brainchild of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and the American owners of three leading English clubs.

It is believed Perez will hold the chairman's role in the new league's structure, with Liverpool's John W. Henry, Joel Glazer of Manchester United and Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke as vice-chairmen.

We are royally fucked then!
