I don't think they would get bored. The NBA , NFL and Superbowl says otherwise.

The kids are bored about Bayern vs Hoffenheim or City vs Burnley. If u don't give them big matches , they will watch Netflix or play a game. They are that spoiled
Evidence please. Boro sold 9,500 tickets in a day for the game tonight. On the other side of the country for a night game. At £45 (not checked). meanwhile City fans sold out 50k seats two weeks before KO for a game against a Championship side. And this is the FA Cup. A competition that is now considered 3rd priority.

I would reassess

The match going fans aren't in this matter. It's the TV audience

And if in a few years of ESL, Bayern have become the new Hoffenheim and City the new Burnley, they'll be just as bored

Quoting American sports franchises as a model to follow shows a total lack of understanding how sports teams(they are almost exclusivity not having a history of being developed as a result of the franchise model) in the UK and Europe had developed over time, in fact attendance wise the NBA and NHL both aren't eye opening and while the NFL post strong numbers that's largely based on the fact they are playing around 10 home games a season(including pre-season and possible post season minus international "home" games).

We could do with the American model, let a tobacco company buy a team in Germany and move it to LA. Maybe call it LA Monks in a tribute to the original location. IT worked with the New York Giants when they were moved to California.

And that is the root of many problems in football. - See FA Cup final at 5-30 just for the benefit of TV fans while ignoring that fact that it makes it difficult to get home to some parts of the country after the match.

They don't care, if they see more profit in TV Match they will sacrifice local fans and slowy phasing them out into tourist or foreign fans that will attend the stadium instead.
