The concept of the ESL is not out of touch with the next generation of fans and future of football.

There are so many games which are no longer competitive in top flight football.

The big European games do not happen often enough and yes whilst it does make it more special when it happens, there is certainly benefit in more City v Bayern then City v Burnley.

The CL does not really scratch this itch and is mainly padded with nothing games in groups, where even if a big 2 meet it normally decides first and second so only a minimal gain and no real drama.

From an English perspective, we do have min of 10 big domestic games, more including cups and then CL so we do ok, whereas others it can be 4 or 2.

For this reason it will at some point come in, although I believe the poor implementation and the self sustaining way they went about it has set it back at least 5 years if not more.

This expert doesn't seem to have much knowledge and is just speculating.

ESL is not a Cartel. A Cartel is if someone stops a competition to be created. While for us Footballs Fans ESL is a Cartell, they still allow other competition to be created. The Champions League would still exist just without the big Teams. So in Justice Terms , ESL is not a Cartell.

European law, if it respects the European treaties, cannot rule in favor of an unnatural private monopoly. It must promote “free competition”. And this, even if the jurists opposed to the Superleague highlight article 165 of the Treaty of Lisbon acting as a“specificity of sport”

a Sports Lawyer also said they win everything on Court.

If u Read the Case in the European Court of Justice Website, it's not only 1 Law that UEFA is breaking, the ESL Company is suing them for 6 Law breaches. What is also surprising that they are suing FIFA alongside UEFA
:)

Nothing is that simple, really. Anyway, we will see, I suppose. Personally, I hope the ESL falls flat on its face.

You may be right, but I would imagine money, and therefore talent, will gravitate towards five or six clubs even in an ESL and so Bayern against Dortmund, say, would be the next City against Burnley. I would have said City against Spurs, but City will be so crippled by the ESL that we are likely to be the new Burnley.

Anyway, that's enough from me on this subject. Court case first, then we can deal with the eternal verities if we have to. :)

It’s inevitable and the best thing for the future of football even though I’m against it.

The timing of it was all wrong we were still in a pandemic and it was during the season.

Plus the concept was wrong. I don’t think it would have had half the uproar if the ESL clubs were saying we’re off for good, instead they got greedy and wanted all the cake, to continue mopping up domestically but stopping anyone from joining the closed shop on the continent.

You also cannot have one of the most hated men in football leading it whilst still leading one of the clubs involved.

To make it work you need 16 clubs to break away fully and for them all to have a 6.25% equal stake in the league and to have a salary cap.

Maybe the hate against UEFA fuels me but also rationalism.

The European Court ruled in Basketball and Skating for a Super League , so why would they not rule the same in Football ?

It's an unwinnable Case for UEFA , UEFA and FiFA are monopolys in every way u look at it.
Thank you for the reply.

I agree with you about FIFA and UEFA.

However the ones that relay want this superleague cannot afford to fight legal challenges for it. They want it, but their business model doesn't work to achieve it

Maybe I'm an old romantic but I appreciate our league structure and cup competitions.

For example. Watching City playing Cheltenham, then Swindon this season.

The matches get me more excited than some league games. Because I'm lucky enough to see our club is part of a structure that allows games like this to occur.

Give me matches like that over playing Real Madrid every other week.

If the Super League is to be a success we need a revitalised yoonitid, otherwise who will challenge the Harlem Globetrotters ?

It might be the best thing for the clubs in it but it's definitely not the best thing for football.

people would still get bored with the top teams playing each other every other week.plus there will still be the haves and the have nots just at a different level
I don't think they would get bored. The NBA , NFL and Superbowl says otherwise.

The kids are bored about Bayern vs Hoffenheim or City vs Burnley. If u don't give them big matches , they will watch Netflix or play a game. They are that spoiled
