Maybe I am struggling here mae but how is restructuring European competition football fucking off fans?

Creating an elite coterie of 12-15 clubs that have differentiated themselves from every other club in the World?

There are fans that don't support these clubs who will never be allowed enter - no matter the investment or success they achieve. It's basically ripped the fabric of football apart. This is just the livener. It will get worse and be completely global in a few years. This is just the start man.

The levels of hysteria in the press about this are genuinely incredible.

You've got actual reporters suggesting a Tory government might nationalise the football clubs and seize 51% of ownership of these privately owned businesses to distribute to fans.

Like in Germany. Unfortunately, I think were too far past the point for fan ownership to come into place.

what IS football if its not about the local loyalties and interactions - I thought we were above this, the last bastions of what’s right, we’re no different to anyone, its stomach churning. American money and them wanting the eventual control of the worlds largest sport. Football is dead. it's now called Soccer. We need to man-up. the empty stadiums have made them realise they don’t need us, we're immaterial.

We could just merge the two Manchester clubs into one franchise, how does Manchester City United sound.

No they will take the name United from MUFC and the name Manchester from City.

Franchises are nothing to do with mergers. The Former Manchester City franchise will become something like Low Countries FC and play matches in Amsterdam or Brussels.
