I've sat on this and read this thread, Twitter and watched as much as I can on it, and after the bombshell yesterday I'm disgusted we are part of this abortion of a idea.
From the time we got bought out by Mansour, to then FFP came in, then the UEFA case, to our win in CAS I always thought we as a club were bigger then this cartel of clubs and were fighting the good fight. Now this has happened, and from what is coming out of Perez mouth there is no turning back. Which sickens me as now we are just part of the cartel as opposed to trying to break in. Ironically that was the aim back in 2008 to try and break into this monopoly and we've achieved that, but not in the way we all wanted.
From the moments of reading results every Monday/Tuesday in the local paper in Australia, to the odd Derby win, the promotion/relegations, to Aguero 93.20, to Pep's 100 point side, and back to back titles and this wonder side we currently have feel like at this moment that's been the best of it. It won't get better then what's been it feels after yesterday's bombshell.
For the first time ever I'm not feeling like getting up at 1,2,3,4 in the morning, the excitement has gone, and this move has soured the City experience for me. Something I've loved being a part of for well over 25/30 years as a foreign fan. It's left a sick feeling in my stomach, and I can't imagine how the local City fans feel.
There is another part of me that thinks this is the ultimate fuck you and up yours to UEFA. Who are stupidly being painted as the good guys here, when it's them & FIFA that caused this entire mess, they laid the blueprint with their greed in selling World Cups to Qatar and all sorts of other bullshit now their cash cows have pulled a move they'd do themselves.
I'm hoping I wake up for work tomorrow and we've withdrawn from this ridiculous competition, but to do that hurts the club and we fall behind so the whole thing is a mess that shouldn't have happened in the first place.
