Yeah found it in PL Handbook two different criteria, I wonder though if the club being sanctioned have a vote can’t see anything about that
Quite ironic that we appear to be the last in, if we're to believe the media. So we've essentially been used to keep the other 5 in the prem if there was to be a vote.

Christ, read the thread, it’s been said about 500 times...

It will make the Premier League pointless...

It’ll be pointless for the Super League clubs to try and win the PL, or try full stop, because it doesn’t matter where they finish in the PL as they’ll always be in the SL. And it’ll be pointless for everyone else because if any of them finish high up in the PL, or even win it, it won’t matter because they aren’t in the SL and probably never will be. SL teams will earn so little from the PL compared to the SL that they will likely use the PL as a reserve league. Or the SL clubs would be so rich and have such good squads that no other clubs could ever break into the Top6, again making the rest of English football pointless.

What’s the point of any domestic football anymore if there’s no meritocracy?

So Pep, what are your aims for the Premier League this season; “Finish 4th from bottom by barely trying in the PL as we’ll still get in the SL anyway, to be honest, does it matter if we get relegated? Maybe not.”... “thanks Pep, back to the studio”!

And long term the aim for this will be to have the SL on weekends, moving the PL to midweek. There’s no way they don’t want all the weekend slots, no clashes, PPV games.

Creating an elite competition with no threat of relegation for the clubs rich enough to be in it and no hope of competing for those not (regardless of how good they are) doesn't sound catastrophic to you?

How about when Super League teams start playing second string players in the league? After all, top four doesn't mean anything anymore without Champions League, right?

I think they'll actually start it this August my friend, probably at an even more advanced stage than anyone is aware of
Maybe but the reports said 22/23. But even if they did you are right, it could be accelerated. Let’s hope this whole thing gets strangled.

The poker analogy doesn't work as well for me just because two groups have gone all in -- we don't actually know what their cards are yet, nor do you know what our cards are. The flop was a bad card for everyone -- widespread outrage from all corners of the globe. We haven't seen the turn nor the river and don't know who's won yet.

I do agree that we've kept our poker face better, and that the motivations are pretty clear for those groups who are all in. What I don't know is OUR motivation. All I know is we are in the game. While I agree that those calling our owners cunts or saying trust is forever broken are overreacting with limited information, with that same information I absolutely feel shame -- shame because we are playing this game in the first place (even if we had to). I'm just hoping we aren't the sucker at the table.
We don’t know our motivation because our execs have gone to ground and we have to rely on Glazer’s comments on our website for our information. Quite shocking. What we do know is that it’s a closed shop, and nobody else can join it. Ten years ago we would have been outside looking in. Sporting competition is gone. So what’s the point in playing 38 exhibition matches and dumping our domestic cups and possibly even league.

This reminds me of Kerry Packer who tried this with cricket but it didn't work out. If this goes ahead who would get the tv rights and would it be another subscription to fleece us.? The pundits are up in arms now but would they take their thirty pieces of silver?

It is sounding like an absolutely disastrous car crash, it can't happen. The sport we've loved for years can't die like this, I can't imagine the rest of my life with no interest in City and football in general
