I suspect City might be happy to accept this given the pain it would inflict on our rivals.
Yes, I think probably so, (was a poor joke), and you would hope the others would think likewise

I agree.
But it will be interesting to see how much.
Substantial?
50m fine each?
That's a fair wedge and if UEFA were to follow suit that's a 100m hit to each club.
We could probably absorb it as could the rent boys and rags, but dippers, spursy and gooners could suffer.
In this scenario there's no big signings next season that's for sure

City fined a CL final win.

The rest £50,000,000 and a suspended 5 year European ban which will come into play the moment John Henry mentions the word breakaway.

"See you in court FIFA/UEFA/FA/EPL/PFA/ESL" (delete as appropriate)
Legally did we actually join this new ESL organisation?
Our was it just letter of intent or something similar?
It's the joining which seems to put us in breach of the PL rule.
I don't think we'll challenge it unless the fine is considered excessive given that it could be argued the breach of the rule was corrected within 48 hours with no impact other than breach of trust?

This has been an error of epic proportions that will be hugely expensive too.

I wonder if there will be a symbolic scapegoat for this? If so, I’d expect it to be Soriano being shunted sideways at least.

I think cool heads are needed. Punishments need to be very carefully thought out. Both parties need a resolution which does not result in a situation where everyone beggars each other and everyone carries a grudge. Both parties need each other. The "uninvited" 14 need the global pulling power of the Big Six and the Big Six need a product which has a degree of romanticism and history beyond the "Sky era".
Unfortunately, history tells me that the football authorities have rarely ever acted as Solomon but are more like poor old Solomon Grundy in the scope of their shortsightedness.

It would be difficult for the PL to prove material loss given the short lived nature of the proposals and the simple fact that nothing actually happened. I’m not sure any of the 6 would want to prolong the agony by arguing in court though.
