The Title Race - 2023/24

I put this in the post-match thread but thought I’d add it here too.

We’ve drawn 4-4 at Stamford Bridge before. In 1937. And we went on to win the league. The omens are good.

I will ignore the fact that we were relegated in 1938.

Next game at home to Dippers is massive. If we are not careful we can easily lose that.

Win the next game and all will look good again. Even a defeat won’t decide anything.

Rollercoaster of a season is on the cards. Not sure I like that -:)

It won't be easy. Think we won't win 10 games in a row like previous seasons, but it won't be necessary. The important thing is that we are close to the top come March/April. Think we will win again. Generally, things don't repeat in football but I think this season will be like last season. We'll hit top form in the final 3 months.

The game with Liverpool won't be decisive. Obviously I hope we will win but nothing will be decided in that game. Liverpool won't win the title even if they win in two weeks. We'll create plenty of chances as they are anything but solid in defence, but currently we have defensive problems too and may draw the game.

The period coming up is normally when we click into gear and go on a long run. The dippers are nowhere near the side away from home as they are at Anfield so I fancy us to smash them again

I think our odds shortened this weekend, despite dropping two points
Last time I checked we were 4/9 and Liverpool/arse both 9/2
Now we’re 4/11 and Arsenal 11/2 Liverpool 13/2

Win our next game and we’ll be about 1/6 I’d imagine!

How nice would it be to win it and not have as stressful a season as normal

Imo, if there is a title winning run, it will come in the last months. But I don't think there will be one for it won't be needed. The rivals will drop plenty of points, too. 86 pts win the league this season.

The odds don't matter. Think the season will be stressful but successful :) There's a reason why no English club has won 4 league titles in a row and back to back CLs. It's really hard to maintain top form for so long.

next 3 league games Pool home, Spurs home, Villa away. all tricky in some way. not many teams would do 9 points out of these.

Villa won 5/5 at home in PL albeit have not played stronger than Brighton yet.
but scored 19 goals in 5 home PL games which is not bad.
