There was a lunatic on here the other day saying we’d be 6th by Christmas or some such bollocksWhere the fuck is this projected deficit coming from?...
We've won titles without Rodri. We've also lost players who we thought we would always need, Silva, Aguero, Kompany, Yaya etc and yet we've always come through. It's a product of great management from the topOne season we won't because Rodri will get injured or red carded again!
To early yet and it's the first time we have lost two quality players plus adding 4 new ones to bed in! It's going to be tight last 5 games of the season I'd guess
in your opinionHow can a team's track record mean very little? Does Real Madrid's track record in the CL mean very little? They've fed off their track record to add to it with different managers and entirely different squads. You're stone cold wrong on this point...
i hold two, perhaps contradictory, views;
1. Currently we are contenders every season under Pep, that's the bottom line.
2. Football is naturally cyclical, if it's our turn to have a slightly off season, so be it, we've been amazing for years.
believe in both and the stress simply drifts away..... :D
I don't disagree with any of those factors. I disagree with you saying a team's track record means "very little"...in your opinion
We could have exactly the same squad as last year and not be playing as well due to individuals levels of motivations for instance, or fitness/injury levels.
The manager is more important especially in our case and how he chooses to balance/set the team up/tactics/tweeks he makes etc
I'm at a loss. Where is this coming from? From top to bottom at full strength we are the best team in the world with everyone else being at full strength. that's not a matter of opinion. It's a fact until proven otherwise...There was a lunatic on here the other day saying we’d be 6th by Christmas or some such bollocks
We dropped points in 10 games last season, and still ended up winning the title by 5 points.Nothing to choose between the Dippers , Goons and Spuds at the moment and the Barcodes and Villa are potential top four/six teams , but none of them will get the ninety points they will need to finish above us.
Alll the above teams will take points off each other as well , the two defeats we have suffered in the league probably means we have to win 24 of our last 30 games to retain the title whch is not beyond these players.
Last season we got to February, roughly half way through the season, without winning 3 games in a row.We are two points off the lead after 8 games in season where, so far, we haven’t played at our best in a single game, we have been plagued by injuries, we lost Rodri for 3 games after a moment of madness and Haaland has been missing sitter after sitter.
You can stick all the money you like on Arsenal, Spurs and the Dippers but my gut tells me we will hit form soon, we will be back to full strength, Pep will finally figure out the conundrum of how to play without Rodri and Haaland will start scoring again.
The fucking endless parade of referee apologies haven't helped this either. Now fans seem to think that they're owed a report - with the release of audio and transcriptions and letters to the ref - after every other weekend. Kova probably got away with one, but those tackles are let go every fucking weekend and we don't need referees giving press conferences for their reason why something wasn't given. Another example of how VAR seems to have made things worse. The same media who have unanimously agreed the way to beat City is to get stuck in and let them know they are there seem a little bit miffed about City getting stuck in and red card not being issued while completely ignoring a City player being hauled around the area. Admittedly we got away with one, but even yesterday ESPN were still ranting about it and Clattenburg was on a five minute rant with red card being screamed every few seconds. At least I and most City supporters can be impartial and admit we got lucky with the card, but it seems impartiality only stretches one way.
well those factors are why i believe the teams track record mean very little as those factors could easily change (through no ones fault and are in no ones control)I don't disagree with any of those factors. I disagree with you saying a team's track record means "very little"...
For me track record is part and parcel to collective experience and weighs heavily into a team's mentality, mindset, psyche or whatever one wants to call it...well those factors are why i believe the teams track record mean very little as those factors could easily change (through no ones fault and are in no ones control)
Of course but those other very simple factors can destroy all of that instantly......unless the manager can control it...hence why the managers tract record is far more importantFor me track record is part and parcel to collective experience and weighs heavily into a team's mentality, mindset, psyche or whatever one wants to call it...
